Quickie update on Rodney, and a good moment!

I want to thank everyone for the thoughts and prayers for Rodney. They delayed his surgery this morning because he was showing symptoms of pneumonia. The good news is that the pulmonary specialist says his lungs are clear this morning, and that the cough is probably related to the 4 days since he's had a cigarette. He will be rescheduled for surgery first thing tomorrow morning.

Don decided that we would stay in Richmond and do his parent's running around rather than wring our hands at the hospital. I ended up making our Superbowl feast, and we had a couple of beers and some yummy steaks followed by angel food cake with strawberries and fresh blackberries.

The high point of the evening was the halftime show. Paul McCartney is my knight husband, after all! =) When he started doing "Hey, Jude", the phone rang, and it was my dad. He called just to do the screaming part just like he did when I was a little kid. It's been a very long time since anyone in my family has given me that kind of a warm fuzzy "we're not as fucked up as a family as we think we are" feeling, and I'm still a little teary-eyed thinking about it this morning. It was most definitely a bright spot in an otherwise long and unhappy weekend.
