Prayers/thoughts/vibes, please!

I very rarely ask for this kind of thing, but if anyone has a spare slot on their prayer/thoughts/vibes list, could they send out some energy for Don's Uncle Rodney?

Rodney is my buddy in Don's family. He drinks, smokes, cusses, and has tattoos, so he's more like me than anyone else Don is related to, and respected me almost as fast as Don's mom did. I've come to think of him as my own uncle, and Don and I both care about him a great deal.

On Friday, he was driving his semi in Chicago, and began having chest pains. He decided it was just indigestion because of his extreme dislike of hospitals and the city of Chicago, and drove on to St. Louis. The entire trip, his symptoms continued to worsen, and when he arrived at the frieght terminal, his girlfriend picked him up and took him to the VA hospital. Once there, they determined Rodney had had several small and at least one major heart attack, and immediately put him in an ambulance to Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, KY.

Rodney is scheduled for a minimum of quadruple bypass surgery tomorrow morning at 6 am. The doctors have told Don's mom that the likelihood is high that Rodney's heart is damaged beyond the point of bypass being an option, and an artificial heart is on stand-by. If they must use the artificial heart, Rodney will need a heart transplant in very short order.

Don is very weird about illness and death, and had decided we wouldn't drive to Paducah last night to see Rodney, but the artificial heart and transplant scenario is new today, and he doesn't know yet. When he gets home at about 5 this afternoon, I'll let him decide if we should go or not. I kind of hope we do go, since I would really like to hug Rodney one more time and tell him he's a dirty old bastard just in case things don't go very well.

I had a whole post in mind about how things were going so well, and some blather about how mad at Crystal I am, but it all seems terribly inconsequential today.

Thanks for reading, and your energy!
