Dr. James Marcus.
Our teacher, mentor, and friend. He taught Birkin and I everything we knew, or at least up until that point. He was brilliant- the driving force behind the T-Virus research. Unfortunately, he was also paranoid, obsessive, and increasingly mad. Someone... Someone employed Birkin and I to dispatch him and take his research. Pity he outlived his usefulness, otherwise we might have at least made an effort to negotiate.
Poor, deranged Marcus. Times changed, and you were unable to keep up. You clung to your precious Progenitor, refusing to advance any further, ignoring the possibilities the future held. No wonder our employer wanted you dead. Still, I have to thank you... Your death taught me as much, if not more, than your life ever did.
On a more pressing and recent note, Shu Shirakawa and the Anti-Spiral disappeared within days of each other some weeks ago. I'd missed it due to the events, but it's enough to make a man suspicious. The number of people on this island even remotely tolerable dwindles every day. Something must be done- and soon.
