heat and photography

This is so weird. Everyone else everywhere is complaining about the heat, and I keep having to go outside or put on a sweater because I can't take the air conditioned splendor any longer. I used to whine about the heat all the damn time, and swear up and down I could never handle living anywhere farther south from where I am now, unless we're talking about places like Patagonia.* However, this is the first time in my entire life that I've had AC both at work and regularly at home--every other place I've lived either didn't have working AC or was also inhabited by my mother who refuses to use it more often than five or six days a year.

Apparently I'm turning into her, because as long as I've been out of direct sunlight, I've been perfectly happy being outside in the 90+ temperatures we've been having all week. Weird.

So this is not just me contemplating my internal thermometer, I've also been looking at a lot of photography for work lately. Here are some of the more interesting sites I've found for either individual photographers, or historic photos.

Brendan Corr

Edward Burtynsky

19th Century Photography

Old Pictures 1850-1940

Shorpy Historic Photo Archive I've probably posted this one before, but it's such a good blog.

*This is still true, but more because I like my seasons and don't think I'd be happy if it was summer-like year round.
