Job 001 :: The Arrival Job [Written/Action] {Backdated to the morning of July 5th}

Jul 06, 2011 17:15

[Waking up in an unknown area - a forest - with all of her clothes and belongings missing, face down in the dirt officially made the morning count as "one of those mornings". It hadn't been the first time it'd happened - hunters were a lot of pranksters when it came to their own - so Ginia couldn't be that surprised by it, but the problem was she ( Read more... )

[ And once Ginia gets to town she can find one headmaster browsing the shops as well. Helios will also note your new feather clothing and might come over. ] Ah, miss, are you looking for something?

[All the new information about the current situation was truly mind-boggling and her head spun from everything she was told, but now was a time for survival. The item bazar was proving fruitful as Ginia found a leather satchel, some notepads and pens, a small first aid kit, a compass, her cellphone, and a small sewing kit thus far. She was looking at a small clay pot with a cork to seal it when someone spoke to her. She turns and smiles, giving a small bow and shaking her head. Habitually, she reaches for her cellphone before quickly switching to one of the new notepads. Best to save the battery for now.]

No, sir, only browsing and picking up essentials and what might be mine.

[Her writing is fast, but legible, and the notepad is offered for him to read with an apologetic smile.]

[ Oh dear. This...this was bad. Helios couldn't exactly read what the woman had wrote down. His death penalty while bothersome to him, never would he have thought it to interfere with trying to help someone. Helios will rub the back of his head a sheepish laugh as he shakes his head. ] Oh, oh dear you can't talk can you? No of course not...I-I'm sorry. Um circumstances, er, here actually made me...

[ he bites his lip looking completely embarrassed. Just a sigh. She's probably looking for her things. He can improvise, surely. He was a new feather once after all. ] You're looking for your things I assume? You can find them in the shop s-somewhere. They...they take time coming around. But your clothes should be there at least.

[Oh dear indeed. This did make for a touch of awkwardness. Ginia pauses, quickly realizing for one reason or another he can't read. She nods in agreement to his words, returning the notepad to the satchel and gesturing at the things she's already found.]

/By any chance do you know sign language?/ [The signs are tentative, but it's worth a try. If that fails, there are other avenues of conversation. Pantomime. Yes or no questions. Flailing about.]

[ Well sign language...he has a good grasp on it. Being a teacher and a headmaster has taught him that knowing a few languages can make all the difference, not every student is the same after all. Helios nods smiling back at her. ] Ah! Sign language, yes!

/Oh why didn't I think of that before? I do know a little./ [ Flailing about would be typical Helios in this situation. But he's glad to know that they can at least speak on some kind of terms. He lets out a relived sigh. This whole thing would have been dreadful otherwise. It's bad enough Ginia is in a strange place, but having a communications barrier as well is something entirely different. He'll have to apologize to her once he regains his ability to read. ]

[Ginia breathes a tiny sigh of relief and smiles a little. She doesn't mind writing and being as accommodating as possible for the other person, but signing has always been easier for her.]

/Please, sir, feel free to speak. I'm mute, not deaf. Though it's a relief to know someone knows sign language around here. Please let me know if I'm signing too fast or need to repeat anything./

Ah, yes of course. My apologies about all this. [ A sigh. ] The Malnosso saw it fit and possibly ironically funny to take away that ability of mine. [ Helios will nod and just smile. ]

Of course. I'm glad to know I can at least speak through that. But, please call me Helios.

[Her lips purse together in sympathy, thinking a little over the new bit of information.] /Can I assume if your ability to read was taken away, you're an ardent reader?

Please to meet you, Helios. I'm Ginia./ [Her hand is offered for a friendly handshake.]

A-ardent would be the perfect word actually, Ginia. [ Might say her name with a bit of a Romanian accent. And oh handshaking. Not...not the best at that. He might stiffen a little ] S-Sorry my hands are probably a bit sticky. Haha! I do have a bit of a sweet tooth so you'll have to forgive me.

[ It's as good an excuse as any. Hopefully she won't feel too bad about it. ]

[A little odd, but accepted. Not everyone is a hand-shaker after all. Ginia easily shrugs it off, moving onto the next topic.]

/No worries at all, I can understand that all too well. I have quite the sweet tooth myself. Please tell me the grocery store has some form of candy or cookies around./

[ Helios definitely is not. Especially when your skin is several degrees colder than the average person.

Helios smirks as he watches her sign that. ] Not only that. But there's a bakery with cookies and all sorts of pastries to die for. You're well taken care of in terms of sweets, I can assure you that. Now as for everything else... [ that's an entirely different matter. ]

/Then it's true; every civilization has alcohol, entertainment, and sweets to imbibe in./ [She pauses to add a small spool of twine to her bag. ] /So what things might I not find around here? For general reference./

We're an including bunch so it's a civilization with mixtures of all sorts of different cultural entertainment, sweets, and drink. Anything and everything from your world, time period what have you. Luceti is like a multidimensional melting pot actually.

[ Helios will be flipping through a cook book nearby. ] Transportation. There's no cars here, or televisions. I know lots of people use those. [ Helios on the other hand... ]

I think it depends on what sorts of things you might be looking for.

/Multidimensional melting pot, I like that./

[That's an interesting looking cook book, she may have to take a look at it herself once he's finished with it.] /I've heard as much. How about lighter forms of transportation such as bicycles?

As for myself, besides most of my own items that have turned up, basic survival for survival and useful things. I'll be visiting the grocery store and the weapon shop later./

Ah you do? I think it's a nice little title for our dear Luceti.

[ Helios will be skimming the pages, not like he can read the recipes anyway but...the desserts section is always nice to look at. Especially those chocolate lava cakes they have listed. He'll stop on that page looking up at Ginia. Hm. ] I'm not sure. But I haven't seen anyone with one around. I think you can probably get people at the smithy or something like that to help you make one, though.

Before you do any of that, you should find yourself a place to stay.

/I propose a poster in the welcome center./ [Whether she's serious or not is anyone's guess.]

/I'll ask around later. It wouldn't do much good outside of the village unless it was a mountain bike, but it would be a fast way to get around. Still, there is merit in walking.

Where would one to go to secure housing?/

((ooc; For the record, I put her in community house 7, room 15.))
