GW is in denial over the fact that SGU is (even before it gets on the screen) racist, sexist, ableist and probably other -ist I'm forgetting. There is no hope for them.
Okay, no offense to Shaddyr, but while I'm sure alot of your followers have a good reason to believe your word, the rest of the world doesn't...
Do I want to see an SGA movie? Yes... Do I have 100% confidence that a movie will be made based on information released by TPTB? No... Do I have 100% confidence that a movie will NOT be made based on the word of an anonymous fan's supposed anonymous source? No...
The fact is, unless you can come up with any sort of evidence to back up your claim, any logical person would put as much faith in your rumor, as they would in any of the other millions of internet rumors that come up every day...even tabloid magazines often have more proof than the word of an anonymous source.....
I'm seriously not offended when people have a difference of opinion with me or point out realistic concerns, possible flaws in reasoning - you know, grown up, normal stuff. I can handle it. I regret that you felt the need to post anonymously. It's not like I'm gonna get *mad* at you.
And the fandom, LJ, twitter and the world are perfectly free to take anything I have to say with a grain of salt and make whatever judgement they like. They don't know me from Adam and have every reason to be leery of 'yet another internet rumour'.
As for evidence? *snicker* Well, unless I get a job as Brad Wright's personal assistant... I guess the bottom line will be in a year, when there is still no movie. Wright, Cooper, MGM and the rest of the PTBs shall be revealed for the lying liars they are.
Of course, in a year, they will probably still be saying, "Oh, not yet, not yet, it's coming, it's just not the right time yet..."
Sorry, but even if the movie doesn't get made, that doesn't mean anyone LIED. It means the economy crashed, DVD sales plummeted, and the people who have to make such decisions (NOT BW, BTW) believed it was not financially viable to go forward.
If you say you're going to be somewhere at 6 pm, but your car breaks down on the way, does that make you a liar?
Yes, they should not have promised the movie so strongly a year ago. But it doesn't follow that they said it knowing it would never happen.
Thanks for the clarification; much appreciated. I guess further, where you see purposeful stringing along, I see typical corporate indecision. I don't think JM has been promising it will be made eventually, but saying he hasn't heard it won't be, as subtle as that difference is.
Maybe because I work for the government (yeah, I'm here to help), I'm used to incredible time-spans for decisions to be made, with lots of promises that we'll hear "next week". Very frustrating.
I'd actually believe they'd love to announce the movies before SGU premieres, to mollify the SGA fans and perhaps get them to give SGU a chance. But like you said, YMMV! Maybe I'm just too naive. :)

Upon reflection, I was pretty annoyed when I made first post. I had just been informed of the news that I went on to share, and I should have been more clear about what I was saying

Vaporware is a term used to describe a product, usually software, that has been announced by a developer during or before its development and, therefore, may never actually be released. The term is usually applied to products which fail to emerge after having well-exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product. The term implies unwarranted optimism, an as yet unannounced abandonment of a project, or sometimes even deception; that is, it may imply that the announcer knows that product development is in too early a stage to support responsible statements about its completion date, feature set, or even feasibility. However, most vaporware would not be considered a hoax since the makers have a genuine intention to create their product, even if it ultimately never materializes.
Mmhm. The gaming industry in particular is extremely jaded in regards to vaporware. It's common practice to conceal the extent to which a project is ailing or languishing by releasing new screenshots, feature lists, production art, etc. with the intent to retain the interest of potential customers, just in case the product ever does reach market.
I kinda view assertions that "we have a script!" or "the set hasn't been dismantled!" with the same suspicion.
And in one of those amusing twists of irony, the MMORPG video game based on Stargate, Stargate Worlds, has been vaporware for a couple years now. The developing software company has been evasive over the cause of the delays (hm, sound familiar?) but this rumor citing an undisclosed inside source (again, sound familiar?) tells a different story.
