A proposal and some other stuff

Long time, no update - but I've been pretty darn busy with stuff.

So far this week I've had one orchestra concert (Halloween Concert) which was quite involved, musically and otherwise. Every section dresses up and does skits before the actual music begins. Last April, I was talking with one of the graduate students at an LO audition and suggested that he propose to his girlfriend for our skit. Long story short, he decided to do it - he also wrote/arranged a song for himself, a guitarist (he's in a band), strings and four horns. we also had to come up with a "cover" skit, to keep it secret from his girlfriend (who is also a horn player and roommate to another hornplayer). So, last night, Matt surprised his girlfriend, Nicki, with his proposal - accompanied by four horn players dressed up as *wait for it* Victoria Secret models. It's all caught on video - and I hope to see pictures sometime.

I also have two more concerts - a brass area concert w/horn ensemble Wednesday night, and a New Musical orchestra concert on Sunday. Blech.

I also took an audition for the Lexington Phil last weekend - did pretty well, but missed some notes, and the section leader is a die-hard, old-school 8D player. Which I certainly am not, and certainly don't sound like. So on to the next audition.

However busy I've been this semester, fortunantely not much of it has been with boring busy-work.

I also just got my first Christmas gig for a Dec 7-11 up in Louisville - hopefully I can get something down south for Christmas eve or something. I haven't done to many gigs this semester.

I also won't get to go down to Alabama until Thanksgiving break (or right before) which kind of makes me sad, but at least I can get some stuff done up here (like cleaning my apartment and such), and at least there is some light at the end of the tunnel.

Till next month, or whenever...
