SPM- Three simple alphabets. The acronym for something so magnanimous.
Honestly, the whole exam fever is wearing me down. Albeit exciting- yes I'm adamant about it being exciting- it's been a rollercoaster ride. To top off sudden fear to take a Physics paper, I have an invigilator asking me if I knew her daughter. And within a minute or so, I'm not talking to an invigilator, I'm talking to my Hermine House runner's mom as well. Funny how people change like the direction of the wind. I think our invigilators have warmed up towards us.
Previously we'd get very stoned faces, huge unfriendly frowns. Now, I get "All the best!", "How was the exam?" and replies of "Welcome" when I thank them for exam papers, test pads, string.. And it's really a very wholesome experience of taking exams, I really think so. Tell me I'm mad to even think it's exciting, but I stand firm.
I've never once been bursting with so much life and eagerness prior to an exam. It's just one of its kind. You know that it's THE exam. You'll never see people act the way they do- my friend started Buddhist chantings just the night before the commencement of the exam. Noone beats that. And when I asked if I could go to the toilet, the teacher says, "Come". I'm still scratching my head as to why exactly they assigned so many men to our centre.
That all aside, I'm blessed to have a friend who's reaccepted me, and that's really good, considering it gives me the peace of mind when I prepare to face each of the ten hurdles. With four subjects left, I'm almost jumping out of my seat! Speaking of which, I seriously jump when the chief examiner tells us that time is up. Really. It's like I'm so intent on checking that I don't realise that time is up.
Tomorrow I'll be facing a paper that has been speculated on all these months. There's a big confusion in my district pertaining to the exam format. Which is crazy. Trust me, with your friends saying their teacher said something..then your school teacher says, "Oh we'll prepare you for both but..." It'll be a thrilling 2.5 hours. Moral, here I come.
