It has been a while since I posted.
First things first - I posted a collage of my
Thanksgiving cookery in my Flickr account. I had to wait until December because I have not yet purchased a Pro account for myself. I may have to after the first of the year.
After a quiet Thanksgiving, N- and I drove to St. Louis on Monday to see
Chanticleer at the Cathedral Basilica. First of all, the cathedral is amazingly gorgeous; we had been there before but I always welcome a chance to go inside. The entire inside is covered in mosaics; you have to go see it if you are in town. It was a holiday concert, covering everything from chant to contemporary classical pieces. Chanticleer is amazing live; they have amazing tone and power in their voices, and seeing them interact with each other as they sing made me miss singing in a small chamber group.
We spent quite a bit of time on Tuesday walking around the Hill region, which is the traditional Italian section of town. We bought trad. Italian treats at a bakery (including ricotta puffs that were good enough to just take a trip to St. Louis for!) and supplies for cooking pasta stuff at an import store. I need to find a recipe that combines olive paste and anchovy paste. :)
Work has been really hectic since I came back. I should know better than to take time off right at the end of the semester. Seriously, sometimes a vacation isn't a vacation when you need to be at work. I'm dealing with some issues with students right now and while I am learning a lot in the process of dealing with them as far as management goes, I would rather never have to deal with issues such as false reporting and plagiarism. That's all I should say.
I'm starting to look at jobs to apply for, and have found two so far that look really interesting and appropriate. A local music librarian spent an hour with me on the phone the other day since she agreed to review my resume for me, and that was very helpful. I need to write some of my cover letters this weekend just to get a feel for doing this stuff. It's exciting!
