Feeling slightly better about life and his situation in it, Sarge managed to get the will to wander on out into the sunlight once more. Well, more like flourescent light, but there were some UV rays... right? He didn't think too much on it as he passed through the base, poking his head into the rooms to see what was happening. Donut cozied up,

Basil stood behind Sarge, arms crossed over his chest and a scowl plastered on his face.
"Where have you been? I've been looking for you for the past few weeks! I thought you defected!"
Reply
"Basil! What tha -.. what?! Hell no I didn't defect! And you're the one runnin' off without tellin' nobody!" Sarge offered right back, voice pitched in near-anger.

Actually, he probably would've last only a week more, but he wasn't going to tell Sarge, now was he?

"And it ain't so hard to figure out where you went, ANYWAY, there's only three places in this goddamned universe that we've ever been! And-... and.. " His shoulders slumped and he panted lightly, a fire kicking up from his side as well as the lack of acid words that he would have said. He winced.
"At least... at least I'm... still alive, you little pecker. Ain't givin' you the satisfaction of killin' me off yet," he grumbled, glaring, "and now I ain't got nothin' else to say."

"You little shit! I could say the same about your desertation! You know how long I've been on this chalk? You have no goddamned right to even suggest that!"
"And just to let you know I haven't had either of those things with Butch! Still haven't!"
{ahh, my one weakness, arguing!}

"Little shit, am I?" he chuckled darkly. "God Sarge, you don't know the half of it. I try so hard, and no matter what I do, I always seem to come up short. You think you've been here long? Hell no. I have spent my entire goddamn life in this army! I have no memories outside of fighting, and testing, and being tested on! Desertion? Me? Hell no. I can't. I don't know anything but war. Yes, I left my post, but I din't leave the army! I'll be fighting for this army long after your dead and buried. I'll still be fighting when your bones are nothing but dust! I'll always be fighting and never be getting anywhere because you're right Sarge! I am nothing but shit! To you, to the army, to everyone! Everyone!"

Levin balked, hand clasping at his side. He had never really thought about that, and he was obviously an asshole for not doing so. He stared at Basil's chest for a moment, lost and out of words, and frowned deeply.
"Y'ain't worth nothin' if you keep thinkin' that way, Basil. I don't know half the things about your life, but I can understand it was a pretty shitty one, and I'm pretty sorry that I just made it worser. But you gotta at least be happy that you're alive and well and not suffering near blood-poisoning with a fucking stab wound in your side. You can't take that for granted, being able to do things outside a' killin' that most people can't..."
He trailed off, shoulders slumping slightly as he sighed. He knew Basil was pissed and he was pissed too, but for some reason the arguing seemed useless now.
"And if it's anythin', I'm just glad you're back safe," he mumbled.

"But didn't you... come on your own volition? By your own? That's what I kinda thought.." Sarge cleared his throat, sounding like an idiot again.
[xD don't worry, lame here too]

Basil looked away and squeezed himself.
"Battle Creek was just a testing facility."

"You... wanna vent a little about it?" He asked quietly, cautiously.

"It was too quiet out there. I had a lot of time to think, and I hated it. I wanted to come back so badly, Sarge, but I was still upset about what happened and I didn't want to hurt you again. And I was afraid you'd forgotten about me and had run off with that blue. I don't think I could have stood it if you had."

"I wouldn't'a run off, Basil, and I wouldn't'a forgotten about you. Just... things happened at the wrong time. And I want to talk about it, even if you don't want to, and straighten things out. Y'know... since this ain't gonna settle itself." Sarge scritched his head and rubbed his neck, looking off to the side.
"Seems I've gotten myself into a big mess this time."
[D: suck]
