KA NI NA BE!!!!
Yes...you heard me right! KA NI NA BE.

That's the latest Japanese word I learned from a Japanese girlfriend of mine at the gym. I stumbled upon this 'beautiful' word during one of our after-gym supper session. As usual I was doing my normal bitching about some annoying member in my class, thus out came all my four letter (English) and seven letter (hokkein, you go figure out) words. Peter, Paul & Mary... to my holy surprise, the first four letters of my hokkein lingo has a completely different (and a tasty & delicious one indeed) meaning in the Land of the Rising Sun.

KA NI NA BE written かになべ refers to a Japanese delicacy, the Crab Steamboat. According to my friend, it is a special dish available at good Japanese restaurant. Not only that, this dish is seasonal and not available year round. The KA NI (crab) season is during the winter time and thus( hahahaha...listen to this) the KA NI NA BE season is happening now in Japan, my girlfriend adds on that they used to throw KA NI NA BE Party back in Japanese. LOL!!! I laughed so hard when I heard that. ORGY is so out this season, we have KA NI NA BE Party now!!!

Anyway, all this came at a right time, I will be flying to Japan on the 8 Jan for a holiday with my 'sisters' and I certainly hope we are in time for the KANINABE season and party!!! hahaha.

For those of you who still do not believe me, my sweet Japanese girlfriend even bought me a KANINABE for Xmas present.... here it is.

I LOVE IT!!! Will definitely go into one of these Japanese restaurant and scream out KANINABE when I am there!!! HAHAHA

PS: FYI, i did ask my friend whether the other 3 letters in Hokkein phase if it rings any BELLS (pun- intended). SIGH!!! They mean nothing in Japanese. Nice try!
