Someone's trying to kill Sheppard

It's a story I read quite a while ago, and the only thing I really remember is, they've taken a new bunch of soldiers and scientists off-world and they are in an area that has a lot of really large rocks, and they are near water.  Most everyone is out of sight of the others when suddenly there is shooting and Sheppard is shot.  He falls down behind a rock, and Ronon or Ford goes out, but they can't find the shooter.  They get Sheppard, and they herd everyone back to Atlantis, but no one is missing a gun (I think) and then they start investigating who might have shot Sheppard and why.

Don't remember any more than that.  Don't remember if it was even finished.  Anyone have any ideas?
