I AM ATLANTIS by TO BE REVEALED

I am Atlantis - the Alterran’s base in the Pegasus galaxy. I’ve been so alone since the last of the Alterrans left over 10,000 years ago. I did my one last due-diligence for them, oh those many years ago, by transporting them all to safety when it became too dangerous for them to stay here - with me.

I’ve often wondered what happened to them, how they were, what they did with the rest of their lives, if they ever learned to ascend (which I knew - from listening to many conversations and from watching experiments and exercises - was their ultimate goal.) I always hoped that some day they would come back and I would find the answer to all my questions.

But, they never came back.

Then, finally, today, it happened! Oh, I know that the people who came today aren’t the Alterrans. But, they knew of them - called them the ancients - and were here trying to find their secret base of Atlantis.

And found me they did!

I was so thrilled to have company again, that I began opening all my doors for them, exposing all my secrets, welcoming them ‘home’. Little did I know that that was exactly the wrong thing to do. It was taking too much power. I had never had to worry about power before. I always had enough to do whatever I wanted, but all of these years had apparently taken their toll, and my power was nearly depleted. By welcoming the newcomers, I was dooming them to a watery grave.
My admiration for these new beings increased drastically over the next hours, as I watched them desperately try to save themselves. They were intelligent, these beings. They were trying inventive solutions to try to reduce the power drain. It was interesting to watch their thought processes. So involved was I in watching their ingenuity that it almost slipped my mind that I could help.

‘The fail-safe!’ I thought to myself. ‘Of course!’

So, I initiated the program needed to bring the city to the surface. These beings were too intelligent to let perish, and I had been alone so long. I relished the thought that these new people might stay and be happy within my walls.

The more I watched, over the next few weeks, the more I liked these people. Not only were they intelligent, as I noticed right away, but they were kind, adventurous, loyal people. They went through the Stargate to explore, and never to do harm as some of the Alterran’s enemies would have. When they made mistakes, they owned up to them, and tried to fix them. They brought into my confines people who had lost their homes. They welcomed these new people, and their new ways, with open arms.

They also had adventures that threatened to turn out badly, but they never left an injured person behind, and they wouldn’t take ‘no’ for an answer. They used their intellect, as well as their technology to help each other and to fight the ancient enemy of my former inhabitants. I felt more alive than I had since my creators left.

I liked these people. I decided I was glad they came. They protected each other, and they would protect me… as I would protect them.
