A quick moderator note regarding bonus stories

Apr 17, 2008 22:27

People have been sending me bonus stories to post for the ficathon (i.e. stories that they wrote for prompts other than the ones they were assigned). On the one hand, I really do appreciate the effort, and I don't want to turn anyone's story away -- more stories in the ficathon, after all, is better for everyone. I've already posted a few of these ( Read more... )

Just wondering- will this push back the author reveal and the timeline for when the authors can post their stories other places?

It'll push it back a little bit, but not too far! Everyone's been really patient and wonderful about keeping their stories secret ... we're almost there!

Sounds fair to me - I like the idea of bonus stories, but it's probably best to post them after the ficathon has ended to be fair to the author who was given that prompt. I can't believe it's almost over! *sob* But I'll look forward to the unveiling of the authors - and the bonus stories too!

Btw, have you noticed that 'Imitation is the Sincerest Form of Insanity' has gone italic for a large part of the story - is that correct? I'll wait until I hear from you before reading it. Thanks.

You know, I hadn't thought of just sending bonus stories, but I have to admit to secretly hoping I would get a call to pinch hit once I saw all the prompts because some of them did start the creative juices flowing and I was just going to store them away for future use. But maybe after the author reveal is complete for those who signed up, you could have an open contribution session of a couple of weeks (or more) where the story prompts are just up for grabs and the authors can post them here during the open session (like over at sga_flashfic)without the anonymous bit... that way you're off the hook to post them, too. Plus it won't delay the author reveal.

Oh, you know what? That's an *awesome* idea! I actually love it and I'm glad you suggested it! And it *will* make things easier for me.

You've definitely put a ton of work into this, and it's much appreciated... after three weeks, you deserve a break! So does this mean I should scamper off and start working on that self-sacrifice AU? *G*

Thanks! And ... yeah! I'll open it up to general posting once the author reveals are done.
