ooo, there's the picture! And it's perfect! Where is the yard? (what state?) We occasionally get turkeys in our yard here in NJ, but I've never seen them in winter.

Southeast New Hampshire, up in the Lakes region. It's mostly forest up and around my parents' place, so there's quite a bit in the way of wild life. I think they band together in larger flocks during the fall and winter, because there seem to be a lot more of them now than there were during the summer.

TURKEYS!

I'm not quite sure how it happened, but one day dogeared and I were talking, and the turkeys came by the office window and somehow that led into John!turkey and Rodney!turkey and... yes. I think we were bored :D
