A couple of notes:

Character name spellings were corrected. If you think we were wrong, check the spelling against the Gateworld Omnipedia first. It was our go-to guide for name spellings and our resolution guide for all questions regarding Stargate canon ( Read more... )

I posted a Girl!Jack/Teal'c prompt, but I don't see it listed anywhere. Did it get overlooked?

It was deleted, because a prompt about girl!Jack chiding Teal'c on his sexism was offensive on several levels: It involved sexism (and Teal'c has been, by and large, all about Sam's warrior prowess, rather than on Sam not being a warrior), and it involved the black man being schooled on the ways of our culture by a white women.

I'm sitting here almost in shock that you think the prompt was Girl!Jack chiding Teal'c on his sexism, especially "it involved the black man being schooled on the ways of our culture by a white women." I don't recall my exact wording, but that is most certainly NOT what I intended, and while Teal'c may have been all about Sam's warrior prowess, Teal'c comes from a culture where the women stayed in the village and were only given perhaps rudimentary fighting skills in case the village was attacked. I'm specifically thinking of these lines from Birthright ( ... )

It is a prompt about a character exhibiting sexism. Which we are fairly certain that many people could find offensive, whether you have canonical support for your position or not. (We could find canon support for the opposite position, which is of Teal'c not being a chauvinist and having a deep respect for women who are warriors, including Sam, Janet, and Vala.) Also, White People Explain Things To Black People is not a trope we want to encourage in this ficathon.

I am sorry that you are shocked at our disagreement. We realized at the time that you probably wanted some kind of female-empowering story. However, when it comes down to it, anything that we found that could be considered offensive was stricken from the prompt list. We said from the beginning that "prompts which the mods consider offensive will not make it through and into the prompt post."

I knew I wanted to write Jack/Elizabeth, so I made a note of all the prompts so I could think about them ahead of time. I narrowed it down to three, all of which are missing, and they're the following from ed84:

Het - Elizabeth Weir/Jack O'Neill - "Are you trying to kill me?"
Het - Elizabeth Weir/Jack O'Neill - "I bought cake."
Het - Elizabeth Weir/Jack O'Neill - "Bad day, eh?"

None of the prompts on the post show up any more, so I don't know what might have been said about that on the post, but I just wanted to check they hadn't been missed off accidentally.

I think I put up another Ronon/Elizabeth prompt that I don't remember the exact wording of, but had something to do with him protecting her, but I didn't keep a note of the prompts I put in because I didn't expect them to disappear, so it could have just been that I thought about it and didn't quite manage to write it down.

The prompts got rearranged and the character names got reshuffled in an attempt to keep things in alphabetical order. It's entirely possible something got mixed up in the sorting, or that you just can't find what you're looking for based on a straight copy/paste. There are over 1500 prompts, most of which were reviewed and copy/pasted and saved-as several times. We did our best, but, as I said, there are over 1500 prompts. That was many more hours of work than we thought we'd have to put in on sorting prompts. In order to keep your mods - both of whom absolutely must attend to their paying jobs today - from having to sort through many old emails on the mod account, would it be possible for you to check again, and maybe to see if there's a different prompt?

Oh, I completely understand the amount of work, there were so many prompts, I was amazed. But I have searched through all the prompt posts and can't find those three anywhere in them in any format. I copied and pasted those straight from the post and I've just noticed that they have dashes in rather than commas, so I don't know if that might have messed up your system.

Lots of people left prompts in something other than the format we specified, yes. Or left pairings, but no prompts. Or prompts that violated one of the other rules. Honestly, they might just not have made it in if they weren't in the right format. We couldn't even say without some discussion and investigation into what was going through our minds at the time.
