I'm sitting here almost in shock that you think the prompt was Girl!Jack chiding Teal'c on his sexism, especially "it involved the black man being schooled on the ways of our culture by a white women." I don't recall my exact wording, but that is most certainly NOT what I intended, and while Teal'c may have been all about Sam's warrior prowess, Teal'c comes from a culture where the women stayed in the village and were only given perhaps rudimentary fighting skills in case the village was attacked. I'm specifically thinking of these lines from Birthright:

TEAL'C
My knowledge of the Goa'uld Moloc is limited. However, I am unaware of any Goa'uld who would permit his women jaffa to be warriors.

...

ISHTA
Then you doubt our abilities. Is that what this is about? You speak of progress, and shedding of the old ways, and yet you still think a woman needs your protection.

That was even in season 7.

I had hoped to get a fic that showcased the differences between his culture and ours regarding men and women, and how he came to regard women, including Sam, as warriors.

It is a prompt about a character exhibiting sexism. Which we are fairly certain that many people could find offensive, whether you have canonical support for your position or not. (We could find canon support for the opposite position, which is of Teal'c not being a chauvinist and having a deep respect for women who are warriors, including Sam, Janet, and Vala.) Also, White People Explain Things To Black People is not a trope we want to encourage in this ficathon.

I am sorry that you are shocked at our disagreement. We realized at the time that you probably wanted some kind of female-empowering story. However, when it comes down to it, anything that we found that could be considered offensive was stricken from the prompt list. We said from the beginning that "prompts which the mods consider offensive will not make it through and into the prompt post."

It's also been pointed out to me that I was a little harsh, so I'm feeling the need to explain further. Here's our main concern: Someone could write a good, nuanced fic with that prompt. Unfortunately, someone could write a simplistic, offensive fic with that same prompt. It's potentially true of any prompt, yes, but your prompt could lend itself to that more easily. We ended up deleting anything that looked questionable to us, as we said we would.

I see your point, and I realize you received many more prompts than you thought you would, but I would have liked the opportunity to reword my prompt so it was acceptable. Maybe Girl!Jack and Teal'c learn how to work together after Skaara is abducted?
