So there I was complaining about GW yesterday and today I'm posting there three or four times. I realized instead of complaining I need to be a positive influence on things. Instead of complaining at the people on GW I need to simply post what I want to talk about. Give my view on things the way I'd like to see from others. Sometimes it's just not ( Read more... )

It general I don't think it has been bad lately. Yesterday there was just an explosion of bad through the whole of GW. Some people who swore they weren't going to watch s4 of SGA downloaded and watched the leaked first two episodes and the vitriole came spewing out for the day. Things seem to be contained today and it's no longer on the SW thread today.

There was a conversation about wanting to see things end happily ever after with John and Elizabeth verses being content with imagining it and making it happy ever after in fic.

I said I was content to see the happily ever after in fic no matter what happens.

I've never personnally heard of this kind of leak happening when the episode hasn't aired on a TV anywhere. I really have no idea how the leak happened. As long as you don't post a link to where you can download it, talking about it using spoiler tags is allowed on GW.

SW fanfic doesn't seem quite as prolific lately. There's a drabble comm. I go to and there is often something there. I've started writing my own drabbles. :D

I too have seen some fandoms go down or not be as prolific when the show is over. Or a character kinda disappears from fanfic when they're no longer on the show. Which annoys me, now that the character's no longer on the show that's when I want the fanfic to be around for me to read with that character in it.

Like sg_lab said, it's okay aslong as you don't post links or say where you can get them. I think most people just stay away from the topic bc it's easier. Personally, I think there's a huge difference in talking about DL eps and un-aired eps. But apparantly the mods don't seem to mind. At least, I reported a post for posting caps from Lifeline, thinking that GW could get into trouble, but Tame posted saying it was okay bc it wasn't on GW's servers.

Same here but apparantly not. JM doesn't seem that bothered either, from what I read. Personally I think it's a ploy and was purposely "leaked" to get people talking and raise interest for when it does air in 2 weeks time.

That's a good point. From what I understand what was leaked isn't absolutly complete. It doesn't have the music and soud effects. Who knows what else is missing and might be changed in the final version that is suppose to air on TV.

Yeah, it's no music so there's long period of silence, and no sound effects. You can here the director shouting "boom" which is quite amusing. Apparantly the vis FX aren't complete either, which, if it's true, really amazes me bc the effects are AWESOME!

I'll defo watch the aired ones to see what differences the music makes to a scene, if any. It's actually really good seeing the ep half done from a learning perspective. It would be a good bonus feature on the DVDs, to see part with no sound, and part with no effects, etc.

I just found a few scenes from the episodes on youtube (no, I have no will power ;p) and it was funny to watch some scenes without the dramatic music that would no doubt be playing. It made the scene seem like it's dragging. And I heard the director shouting boom.

I know you haven't seen it yet and don't want to be spoiled, so all I'll say is I was truly baffled by the response on the SW thread. I even wondered if they were watching the same show.

And that's why I can't be bothered with the SW thread, tbh. Without meaning to bash the Sheylas, there was a time when it was wondered if they were watching the same show, and how their topic of discussion was rather lame, eg: What would be their song? Where would they go on Earth? etc. Imo, that's exactly what the SW thread has become. It just seems too... childish, for me. There's such a thing as happiness without the Big White Wedding, 2.5 children and a dog, and I think some people on that thread would only be happy with that.

I'm not surprised some people reacted the way they did. It's a lot like the attitude I've seen in individual character threads. There are fans that have a perception of their favorite characters and when the show doesn't fit into their perceptions they're not happy ( ... )
