Daniel walked out of his and Cameron’s bedroom carrying a pillow. Coming over next to the recliner he placed a hand on his lover’s shoulder. “Hey,” he spoke in a soft voice.

Cameron opened his eyes and smiled up at him. He lifted his head allowing Daniel to place the pillow behind it.

“Need anything else?” Daniel asked just as there was a knock at the door.

“Just agree with them,” Cam’s voice was tired.

“Agree with whom?” Daniel frowned as the knocking at the door persisted.

“Just answer the door,” Cam said.

Daniel huffed and crossed the room answering the door. Jack stood outside the door with Sam, Vala and Teal’c behind him.

“Hi?” Daniel looked confused.

“Daniel, Teal’c and I are taking you out,” Jack announced.

“I can’t,” Daniel pointed his thumb over his shoulder.

“Sam and Vala are staying,” Jack moved out of the way so the two women could enter the apartment.

“I’m not going,” Daniel began.

“Daniel,” a weak voice called from behind.

Daniel turned around and walked back to Cam’s side kneeling down. “Cameron, I’m not going anywhere,” he wrapped his hand around his lover’s wrist feeling the bones sharper with the loss of weight. “I’m not leaving you. I’m picking up your parents at the airport tomorrow and that’s as long as I’m going to be away from you.”

“Daniel, you’ve been cooped up with me for almost a month,” Cam rested his free hand over Daniel’s one that was wrapped around his wrist.

“I want to be cooped up with you,” Daniel leaned over pressing a kiss to Cam’s dry lips.

“Just for an hour,” Cam said.

Daniel sighed. “All right, one hour.”

“Thank you. I love you, you know,” Cam said.

“I love you too,” Daniel brushed a hand through Cameron’s hair and kissed him again. He looked up to see everyone had gone. “Where is everyone?”

The kitchen,” Cam said.

“Can’t get much past you,” Daniel smiled.

Getting up Daniel walked to the kitchen and stuck his head in. “You can come out now, I’m coming with you.”

Daniel took one last glance towards his apartment building before getting into Jack’s truck. He settled into the front passenger seat while Teal’c climbed in behind him.

“So what do you want to get for lunch?” Jack asked.

“We already had lunch,” Daniel said staring out the window as they passed the apartment building.

“And how much of that lunch did you eat?” Jack asked. “Cam told me you haven’t been eating much.”

Daniel turned his head and looked at Jack. “When did you talk to Cameron?”

“While you were fixing your lunch.”

Daniel could hear the sarcastic tone in Jack’s voice. While he had fixed something substantial for Cameron Daniel hadn’t bothered with much for himself. And even with the way Cam’s stomach was feeling these days he had still eaten more than the archeologist.

“Daniel, they’ll figure it out,” Jack’s voice turned softer.

Six Months Earlier

Daniel had been back for twenty minutes after being offworld with SG-13 for the past week. He had finished taking a much needed shower and was exiting the locker room when he ran into Sam.

“There you are,” she said out of breath.

“Is something wrong?” He asked.

“It’s Cameron,” she began. “He passed out a few minutes ago. Landry said you got back but I couldn’t find you.”

“Is he all right?” Daniel latched onto his friend’s arm.

“I don’t know, Lam was examining him when I went to find you,” she said.

Daniel didn’t say anything heading down the hall towards the infirmary. Sam followed doing her best to keep up with him.

When they entered the infirmary they heard two distinct voices arguing. One was male with a light southern sound and the other was a commanding female.

“Colonel, I would like to run some more tests,” Dr. Lam said.

“I’m fine, Doc. Nothing more than a caffeine rush,” Mitchell said.

“Sam said you passed out,” Daniel said coming up next to Cameron who was sitting on the edge of the bed buttoning up his jacket.

“I got a little dizzy,” Cameron huffed sliding off the bed only to reach out to catch himself as he lost balance. His hand landed on Daniel’s arm.

“Kinda like that?” Daniel asked helping the other man to sit back down.

Cameron grimaced. “Yeah.”

“Colonel,” Lam said.

“All right, Doc,” Cam relented.

Present

It was a moment before Daniel realized the car had stopped and they were sitting in the parking lot of a restaurant. He climbed out of the car and followed his friends inside.

Jack ordered for all of them. Daniel managed to eat a little of what was in front of him. Conversation was at a minimum as Daniel checked his watch several times.

Once Jack was satisfied Daniel had eaten all he could they left the restaurant.

Once they got in the car Jack’s cell phone rang. Daniel’s head jerked up and over looking at his friend.

“Sam, what happened? All right, we’re on our way,” he closed the phone and looked at Daniel.

“Jack?” It was all Daniel could get out. A pain grew in his chest he hadn’t felt in five months.

“They had to get him to the hospital. It looks like he may have had a heart attack,” Jack said.
