It's been so quiet lately that I haven't tried to comment on LJ since the changes to the comment pages was implemented. Now, I find that I can't choose an icon when I comment in Firefox. ARGH

Yeah, I'm sad that LJ's imploding because of poor business decisions. I just can't give them any more of my money if they continue to decrease functionality, interoperability & accessibility without regard to people who pay or otherwise support LJ through content creation that drives traffic for advertisers.
If anyone knows of some kind of patch that will allow me to use the dropdown text menu in regular comment pages
I'll go where ever my fandom friends are, be it DreamwWidth, Twitter, Tumblr or WordPress. And right now, DW seems to be doing more things right than LJ is -- including finally finding a way to IMPORT COMMUNITIES.
There are links to both advancing and stoppedhiding; each has useful tips. And I was able to identify the layout families that seem to work the best. I haven't been able to stay currernt on the topic, though, and better solutions may have been developed since then.
Ironically, I find DW visually uncomfortable because the layouts there don't have the narrow margins. I finally realised that the sense of visual discomfort was the biggest thing keeping me from switching over myself: my journal is home online, and if home looks and feels wrong, and I can't get it to look and feel right, it's just not worth it to switch. (And yes, I've thoroughly explored the options to get it to look and feel 'right' to me, and ended up burning out and going offline completely as a result

I have no idea why I'm not comfortable on DW the way I am on LJ. Strange thing, that.
