Crossover SG-1 Gen Fic Day roundup

Feb 03, 2011 09:54

Here's the roundup for SG-1 Gen Fic Day of February 2011!

New fic

We had plenty of delicious servings of Alphabet Soup, but we are still missing five letters -- I really hope we'll get them soon! As of now, the anthology is over 46,000 words. The full Soup will be posted as soon as the entire alphabet is assembled. Edit: here's the Soup, with the non-abridged version on Dreamwidth.

The crossover flashfic post will remain open for now. There are already a few flashfics posted -- go check them out! Edit: the flashfics have been collated into their own entry here.

annerbhp wrote a non-Soup crossover: Flight of the Brochures. Emily Gilmore has a close encounter of the Chulakian kind.

lolmac wrote an extra SG-1/MacGyver ficlet besides her Soup entry: X Marks the Spot Drabble

Older fic

As always for Gen Fic Day, I asked people to link to their own stories ("shameless self-promotion"), especially to crossovers. We got lots. :)

From ziparumpazoo: Not a crossover, but definitely gen and team: Though Never So Rough and Grim - curmudgeon-y Jack and the last, anti-climatic mission with SG-1.

From lolmac: Misappliance was my first try at a Stargate/MacGyver crossover, almost a year ago. It's a triple drabble: In which Earth's Bacon is Saved, and General Hammond has a Bad Day.

lizardbeth_j links to Distorted Reflections, a crossover of SG1/Jeremiah (though you don't need to have seen the show). Features the Season 7 team, plus many SG-1 characters in alternate form. Rated R. Novel. SG-1 finds themselves trapped in a post-apocalyptic alternate Earth, where most of the adults died fifteen years ago. Now those children have grown up and a war is brewing over who will control the future. SG-1 must fight, risking everything, if they hope to find a way home.

wishfulaces links to Just One of Those Days, a SG-1/Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy fic I wrote probably almost ten years ago (don't let the publication date on AO3 fool you). It's still my favorite piece of crack. Daniel gets to sniff savagely.

From una_spectre: The Family Team. Crossover with the A-Team.

sg_fignewton (cough) links to a whole slew of crossovers:

Where the Future Is Being Made Today is a shameless crackfic with the Muppet Show.

Pay No Attention to the Tok'ra Behind the Curtain, in which the team find a planet to be a little too Oz-like, and there are fuzzy symbiote slippers.

The Twilight Zone. Twilight isn't proof of a fracture in the space-time continuum? Are you sure?"

Dreadful Disappointment, in which the team attends a performance and revealing the crossover would ruin the punchline. :)

Attitude of the Knife. A priest wants to kill the team, but Sam and Daniel are too busy geeking about his crysknife to notice.

X is for X-Files. From Jonas Alphabet Soup, and a little confusion on Jonas' part about television dramas.

sg_wonderland links to several NCIS crossovers.

These first two are kidfic: To Catch a Falling Star and To Save a Falling Star.

Painted Soldiers. NCIS are called to investigate the death of a Marine.

Campfire Stories. The missing scene from the coffee break.

Best Laid Plans. NCIS needs someone to translate an obscure dialect.

From gingasaur: Magnificent Starlight. SG-1/Robot Unicorn Attack. Otherwise known as Sam gets a unicorn friend.

tallulah_rasa links to What's in a Name. SG-1/White Collar (because after Marty left "Wormhole X-Treme" he moved to New York and changed his name to Mozzie).

cofax7 links to two fics:

Temporary Alliances, Terminator/SG-1.

And a totally creepy Narnia crossover.

And here are the recs, by sg_fignewton, green_grrl, lolmac, and redbyrd_sgfic, in no particular order and as they were posted:

A quite long crossover with Quantum Leap, The Present Crisis by Sandman. A time traveler from the near future gets a taste of Daniel's life and things just get complicated from there. A crossover with the TV show 'Quantum Leap.' Gen, Author's rating is R for language and violence.

The Husband of Sha'uri by jedibuttercup. Crossover with The Mummy, or what happened to Daniel after Moebius.

Where You Hang Your Hat, by destina. Gorgeous Sam-in-Atlantis fic, with the team serving as her heart's link home.

No Respect for Normal Dimensions by caladria. Discworld crossover with the team, luggage, and Death. Glee!

Bad Pennies by Troyswann. Fun, fun MacGyver: "Seriously, what's a Tok'ra?"

Troyswann's Bad Pennies is fantastic! And there's a sequel, which is even better: Bad Pennies II.

Unfinished Business by Tallulah Rasa had me crying with laughter as SG-1 and a team from SGA try to recruit House.

Interference Patterns, by BT, is a thoughtful, intelligent crossover with Quantum Leap.

Been There, Done That by Martha Wilson is a very entertaining adventure story in which Iolaus of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys is accidentally dragged back to the SGC.

wishfulaces did a delightful Doctor Who crossover: A Jaffa, an archaeologist, and two Air Force officers walk into a library...

Syndicated Sci-Fi Show, by claudiapriscus, is a great crossover with SPN in which Sam and Dean are dragged into the SGC 'verse.

A perfect little Discworld snippet--Daniel versus Death. (Of course.)
daegaer's Drabble: Stargate/Discworld

A slightly longer ficlet with the Due South duo, and an over-eager Thor.
basingstoke's The Abduction

Because I can't resist an adorable Leverage ficlet, and Vala and Parker would so be on the same page.
holdouttrout's Fine Artists

Of course when a Marine family had a question about a death, they'd send NCIS to investigate. Wonderland's Painted Soldiers

And a couple of longer classics:

Highlander crossover: Methos knows how to recognize someone out of his time, like a high school student who seems a lot older. MarbleGlove's A Square Peg in a Round Hole

Sentinel crossover. Daniel on the run from the NID finds help in Cascade. Martha's Lovely.

Thanks and congratulations to all those who participated and made SG-1 Gen Fic Day such a success! The Crossover Alphabet Soup anthology will go as soon as possible. Really. :)
