Five Movies Which Were Poor Choices for Team Nightent_alter_egoJanuary 22 2011, 03:53:22 UTC
Titanic. Daniel was offended that instead of proper underwater archaeologists the movie featured treasure hunters. Jack was offended that he’d wasted his money on such a dumb movie and proceeded to mockingly quote it for three weeks. (There really was no end to his uses for “I’m the king of the world!”) Sam didn’t mind the movie at first, but two days later when “My Heart Will Go On” was still stuck in her head, she reacted badly to any mention of it. Teal’c was the only one who really liked it, but then again at that point he was so fascinated with movies in general that he had yet to encounter one he disliked.
The Sound of Music. Teal’c requested this one because Janet spoke highly of it. The movie alone wasn’t the problem. Nobody could have guessed that the next day their mission would bring them into contact with flowers which produced intoxicating pollen. any war movie. they reminded them of their times under fire.
any movie involving time travel. sam usually complained about the science.
any movie about aliens invading. they made everyone thing about the goa'uld.
most movies staring ex-SNL people. sometimes jack was the only one who laughed.
any movie that had anything to do with archeology. there weren't all that many of those. a fact that daniel complained loudly about. every. single. time.
The Alien. It wasn't so much the whole alien bursting out of someone's stomach scene, as Jack's drunken attempts at comparing Carter with Ripley and demanding that she dye her hair that had the movie banned from any future Team Nights.
Indiana Jones. Daniel's resulting week-long snit had half the SGC on edge.
Any art-house movie. Jack always fell asleep. Daniel and Sam had arguments over the imagery and they were an utter pain to explain to Teal'c.
The Mummy. For obvious reasons.
The serious and good war movies. Because they had enough heartbreak in their real lives.
SGABridget Jones' Diary. Teyla's feminist mode was a spectacular and terrifying thing to behold

The Rocky Horror Picture Show. There are some things that are very difficult to explain to aliens and then there are things that are not only difficult to explain but also leave the aliens in no doubt that your race is crazy.

The Matrix - Ronon thought Neo was a huge wuss. "I don't understand why they're having problems dealing with a computer program. You guys did okay in that Wraith computer thing." Which made Rodney puff up in pride and John click off the movie

Snow White - Teyla's discomfort made John swear off Disney movies for life - although Rodney still wanted to give Mulan a try. "I swear, Teyla, the princesses don't always just sit around and wait for their prince to come."

Star Wars - apparently you can't watch just one. And you can't speak during them either. It was the longest six hours of the Jack, Daniel, and Sam's life
