Five times Vala was whinier than usual, but Sam kissed her anyway (Part 2 of 2)skieswideopenMay 23 2011, 21:15:36 UTC
4. "How much further do we have to go?"
"At least another five miles," Sam said. "Which is only a hundred feet less than the last time you asked that question."
"I can't help it!" Vala said. "My feet hurt. It's these new boots they insisted I wear. I think I'm getting a blister. Actually, I think my whole foot is going to be one giant blister. Both feet, even."
"Did you want to take a break?" Sam asked. "You could try changing your socks; it might help."
"I don't have any spares," Vala said.
"How could you not bring extra socks?"
"There wasn't room for them and my hair dryer."
"Hair dry...Vala! Where exactly were you expecting to plug in your hair dryer?"
"Oh!" Vala smiled brightly. "I borrowed that fancy mini-generator you had in your lab. I know it was still experimental, but..."
"VALA!"
Vala stopped. "What? You know what a mess my hair is if I let it air dry! And I wanted to look my best for you on this trip. You're not mad, are you?"
Sam sighed. "Just...ask next time, okay?"
"So am I forgiven?"
"Sure," Sam said, leaning in to kiss her, "as long as you keep walking."
5. "The one night I actually make you dinner and you're late?" Vala said.
"I'm sorry; there was an emergency. Doctor Lee...well, anyway, it couldn't be helped. I left you a message."
"Oh yes, you left a message saying you'd be a bit late. A bit late is getting home at eight instead of seven, not at three in the morning!"
Sam looked around helplessly at the still-set table. "Vala, I'm sorry. You shouldn't have waited up."
"I bought candles. Candles, Sam. And do you know what I had to promise Mitchell to get those cooking lessons?"
"Nothing too terrible, I hope."
"I had to promise to do follow orders on the next three missions! His orders."
"I didn't know..."
Vala sighed. "Never mind. It doesn't matter. Just come to bed."
Sam touched her arm. "Vala. I'm sorry. I had no idea you'd gone to so much trouble." She leaned forward and kissed Vala slowly. "Forgive me?"
A slow smile spread across Vala's face. "Maybe. Come to bed and we'll see."

Heee!! These are awesome! Love how in #2 Sam has to explain how it's a prison they're in... and #5 is just too sweet, poor Vala. (Hee!: "I had to promise to do follow orders on the next three missions!") Thanks! :)
