1. "You're honestly going to leave me like this? Alone, in bed, while you go off-world? I could die while you're gone!"
Sam suppressed a sigh and continued to button her shirt. "Vala, you have a cold. You'll be fine. Just get some rest and drink some soup and watch daytime TV."
"Oh, that's what you say now! But when you and Mitchell get captured and it takes Teal'c a week to rescue you, you realize I'm going to starve to death here in your apartment. It's not as if you have much in the way of food here."
"Vala," Sam said patiently, "the Ifrani are our allies. We aren't going to be captured. And even if we are, I have faith that you'll manage to find the supermarket on your own." She leaned down and brushed a quick kiss across Vala's lips. "Be good. Get well. I'll see you tonight."
2. "I don't like this place," Vala said, wrapping her arms around her torso. "It's cold and damp and it smells, and there are no beds, and did you see the way that guard was looking at us?"
"It's a prison, Vala," Sam said, studying the door. "I don't think they intended for it to be comfortable."
"And why did they split us up anyway?"
"Apparently they keep the men and women separate," Sam said. The door and door frame both looked disconcertingly sturdy.
"I don't want to die in prison!" Vala wailed. "Not when it's not even my fault that we're here!"
"It doesn't matter whose fault it is," Sam said. "And we're not going to die here. We're going to find a way out."
"My father always said that this is how it would end for me. Dead of pneumonia in a damp prison cell."
"Vala." Sam turned away from the door and took Vala's face in her hands. "We are not going to die here." Sam leaned in and kissed her hard. "We will be fine."
3. "What do you mean I can't go until I file my reports?"
"You're six missions behind on your paperwork," Landry said. "That means no more off-world travel until you're caught up. SGC policy. Once you've filed, you'll be cleared to travel with SG-1 again."
"Sam!" Vala protested as Landry left the room.
Sam shook her head. "Sorry, Vala. There's nothing I can do."
"Well, you could write my reports for me."
"I already wrote my own reports," Sam said. "Besides, I think they might notice if I started writing yours."
"But...but...this will take forever! You know, I don't think there's a policy at all. I think General Landry just has an unnatural fetish for paperwork."
Sam laughed and kissed her. "Just do the work, Vala. I'll see you when we get back."
