Blogathon!
Hello Wishingwell! Once again I'm here telling you about charity opportunities!
shadesong is participating in Blogathon, which is more or less an online version of a walkathon. So for 24 hours, she'll be posting on her lj every half hour. What's she posting? Flash fiction and poetry, as well as updates on how the team is doing, silly things we're laughing about, whatever. Oh, and she'll also be posting art. What we did was, people made stuff based off of her stories and poems, and those things are being auction off at blogforbarcc. You can sponsor her directly here, or go bid on the items. I have three things in the auction, a scarf, a Science! tea cozy, and some yarn I spun.
So why are we doing all this? We're doing it to benefit the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center. Their budget has been slashed this year, and statistically, violent crimes go *up* in times of financial trouble, so they really need to make up the shortfall. The community I linked to has more information on what BARCC does and what Song does for them, and on Saturday, all the stories and items will be up at Song's journal.
MOST IMPORTANTLY, I know times are tough for everyone. It's totally ok if you can't or don't want to bid on anything or give a sponsorship donation, but the biggest way you can help us out is to pass the word along on your journals, or anywhere else you might think to do so. Signal Boosting is a HUGE part of what we need for this!
