It's now a fan favourite for British girlband One of the Girls Aloud songs voted by fans onto the second disc of their Ten: The Hits compilation was originally offered to Britney Spears.
'Grafitti My Soul', originally released on the girl band's 2004 opus What Will The Neighbours Say?, was intended for release by the new X Factor USA judge, but she turned it down.
Britney is also known to have had the chance to release Rihanna's 'Umbrella' and Lady GaGa and Beyonce's 'Telephone' as well.
Whilst most of Girls Aloud's output, helmed by Brian Higgins of Xenomania, has been hailed for its refusal to abide by traditional verse-chorus-verse-chorus structure, Britney's label were allegedly unimpressed by the lack of "repetitive parts".
Higgins told The Observer back when the track was released: "The record company loved it, but Britney's people said 'Where's the chorus? Why are there no repetitive parts?'"
It is thought that Britney's people then asked Cathy Dennis to write for her instead, and 'Toxic' was born.
Cheryl Cole has said that Spears' version was recorded in "that really strange voice and it freaked me out".
Girls Aloud confirmed their reunion last week, and will embark on an arena tour next year.
'Graffiti My Soul' could well be performed, after being selected by fans as one of their most popular songs.
Found this on britneyaddiction, interesting read.
I wonder what Brits version (would've) sounds like
