I was drawn here, drawn to you… [at_bothends]

Alright, so I couldn’t wait until tonight.

I make my way past security and look around; I’m not sure what made me think that coming here would be a good idea. I don’t even know where to look for him in the courthouse.

Biting my bottom lip I head over to the schedule looking to see Lindsey’s name somewhere. It takes me a moment of searching but I find a listing on the forth floor ‘L. Morgan & L. McDonald. Room 416’

I turn away from the board and nearly bump into someone. “Oh, s-sorry.” Looking up to see who it is, I can feel my face turning red as my heart sinks just a bit. “Hello Ms. Morgan.”

“Why hello, Tara.” I could tell that she was annoyed by the tone of her voice. “What brings you here? No, don’t tell me.” Her voice was acidic and put me on edge. “I’m sure you’re here to see Lindsey. I can take you right up if you’d like, I’m heading up there myself.”

Pausing for a moment, I brushed my hair away from my face and wondered if she had another agenda before following after her. I didn’t know Lilah at all but there was just something about here that always made me feel…off.

Stepping quietly behind her, I follow Lilah down towards the elevators. “Do, does Lindsey know you’re coming?”

“No, h-he had to work late last night and…” I pause and cross my arms over myself. “I thought that I would surprise him and we could go to lunch…or something.” I really hope that wasn’t as lame as it sounded.

“Young love, how…sweet.” She turned and gave me an unreadable look before stepping out of the elevator. “Now, I don’t know what you know - nor do I care - but this is a big case for the firm and you can’t sit upfront just to be a flirt.”

I opened my mouth to speak but she cut me off. “There is seating in the back. Use it.” With that she walked away, leaving me feeling uneasy yet again. With a sigh I shake my head and look around the hallway before walking down towards room four-sixteen.

The hairs on my arms stand on end as I walk through the courtroom door and quietly find my way to one of the seats in the back. Something doesn’t feel right, I can’t quite put my finger on it but it just doesn’t. Maybe I’m over stressed but everything just feels… mystical in a way. But there isn’t…then again if my mother taught me anything it’s that magic is all around us and that everyone has some sort of magic inside of them, even if they never find out.

My eyes move around the room, looking for Lindsey but not seeing him, until they set on a man sitting in the defendant chair on the far left side of the room. My eyes focus on him and I can’t seem to look away from him, there’s just…something. There seems to be a dark glow around him.

Wait, can darkness glow?

I sit down and cross my legs, smoothing out my skirt over my knees, all the while my eyes still focused on the man in the chair. I couldn’t help but wonder what happened to get him where he is, or what he did to make him such a high profile for Lilah and Lindsey’s law firm.

The cold click of heels can be heard walking through the doors and into the courtroom; I didn’t have to look, I almost knew that it was Lilah by the sound. She casually walked through the courtroom and over to the man sitting in the chair.

They stand there talking for a few moments talking; it looks like casual conversation. A moment later he turns his head and his eyes focus on me. My blood runs cold and I know that I must be seeing things because his eyes are black. It’s like he has no eyes. It’s only darkness.

Swallowing hard, I look away and cross my arms over myself and feeling slightly uncomfortable about being in this situation and having second thoughts that I shouldn’t be here.

I started to stand up to leave when they started to announce that court was in session, leaving me trapped from leaving. Maybe if I sit quietly back here nobody will notice - Lindsey especially - that I’m here and I can leave quietly after court…
