Ugh, that's pretty terrible. Eventually, though, your own fiscal responsibility will get you back on top of things, no matter how much your family tries to screw it up for you. My mom is in a relative financial mess and my brother won't have anything to do with her finances, so that'll be up to me and my sister when she retires with absolutely no savings.
