Time is nothing

OK. I need to talk about Misfits. I have all these feelings.

I hate this season. I mean, I don't really, but I DO. There was so much potential last season for this one to really burn through some crazy, amazing issues and get really plot-heavy and delicious.

Then we went straight back to character - almost standalone - episodes and being able to switch powers just makes things too easy. It's like a deus ex machina. Whenever something goes wrong? See Seth, he'll get you a new power and all the problems related to the old one will disappear.

There is one thing that really, really bothered me about this season. Alisha's power disappearing. It was the most interesting, it caused the most problems, it built character, and affected relationships. It was such a great asset to the show and for it to just vanish with no consequences seems... wrong.

And, I'll be honest, I'm still a little confused about what exactly Alisha and Simon's powers are at the moment. They seem so vague and undefined. Rudy's power is just plain weird and I'm not exactly sure its purpose or why he hasn't traded it in with Seth who's surely up for doing favours for Kelly's "friends".

I loved the gang's powers being connected to their personalities and experiences. Ironically the only character who still has that facet is Seth, and he seems to be stuck, he's clearly not able to use the powers he deals himself. Otherwise he would have raised his girlfriend from the dead without Curtis. So, he can't change his own power or pass it along to anyone else.

My major nag with this season is that it feels like an entire series of filler. It doesn't feel connected or purposeful. It's sitcomy at times as there's no real consquences from one episode to the next. Change the course of time? Oh, you can fix that in 40 minutes. Raise a zombie hoarde? No probs. Kill a bunch of people? Oh, that's not even slightly nerve-wracking anymore.

I can't even get started on the time travel. Something which has been such a significant part of the show for so long and it's just... vacant at the moment.

What's the point of this all? Either there's a really killer plot twist in the last episode or I'm going to have to rewrite this entire season in fic to make it alright in my head.
