So, it's been 2 years since Tom Fox died. It doesn't seem like it's been so long. I think about him all the time, but unlike many people that I've known, I don't tend to think of him in an exclusively mournful way. Of course, it makes me sad that he's gone. I feel like that's something that I, and most of us who knew him, won't ever fully shake. But he was the sort of guy who no one, not even a casual acquaintance, could ever forget. So whenever I think of him, I'll feel sad for a minute, but that will quickly morph into wanting to go out and save the world- whether it be via making a large commitment as he did, volunteering for a local non-profit or simply helping a stranger carry their stroller up the subway stairs- it sounds incredibly scripted, but each time I think of him, I want to go out and be a better person.
The organization that he was doing work with when he died was
the Christian Peacemaker Teams. They're still out there doing good work-in Iraq like Tom and in other areas too. I just made a donation in Tom's name. Here's the link for anyone else may feel moved to do the same:
http://www.cpt.org/participate/donate . I know that not everyone reading this is able to or would want to donate, but I'm putting the link here incase anyone would be interested in donating or passing along the link.
Today, and everyday, please continue to hold his family and the people who are still non-violently fighting the good fight with CPT and other great organizations in the Light.
