I went to see John Brown's Body and the Sim Redmond(?) Band at the Ithaca state theater, and it was a kick ass show. Sim Redmond Band was kinda laid back, hang out with a girl on the beach type music so it wasn't too good for dancing but it was a great opening band. Nice pleasant sound and a little something to get warmed up to. JBB came on and ( Read more... )

I use that exact CDJ for a goth/industrial show every 2 or three months. It's a good set up but watch out for a 1-3 second delay. Apparently it's not on all of them, but it would be worth it to test-drive it first.

Where does the 1-3 second delay become apparent? Say for example I had a track cued and I unpaused it... would it appear there? Also, do you know if that mixer is any good, or would you recommend something else?

Yes. Precisely when you uncue. It happens on my friend's ( A goth rapper who doesn't need to layer a pair of songs, just play and generally cue beats [yes... a goth rapper...he's "got the lyrical skillz to pay the funeral bills." I shit you not it's bizarre and awesome.]) set 1 out of three times. I doubt all of them have this problem, just make sure you test it in-store. If you're ordering online, your local Guitar center WILL match the price, so you risk nothing by giving it ten test-cues.

The mixer should be fine. I have the Pioneer 1100, which is exactly the same machine with a broader effects range/button, and 5 channels (one for mics).'ve never used the 300s, but I've got a lot of confidence in Pioneer's stand-alone mixers. They're like the zippo of audio receivers.

I'd recommend the 1100, but as a psy kid you probably won't need more than 2 channels, and the 1100's effects are it's weakpoint, which you more than compensate for with the effects pedal.

Two words for you my noisy brain-massage liking dude.

Chaos.
Pad.
