I have a blocked duct. It keeps getting better, the worse. then repeat. I was called in an antibiotic yesterday. Today, I had the worst day of my life. Seriously. I was in THE WORST PAIN I have EVER been in. Giving birth (Medicated Birth, obviously) was seriously better than the pain I was in today ( Read more... )

Seriously. I was reading about them and I'm like what the hell. They are REALLY not that common. and to know that YOU had one.. I'm like, WHY!!! lol!

I have tried almost everything. I read about nursing the baby on all fours, but I really don't think it is going to work out. Because my nipple is SO swollen it indents in really far. I don't think even the nipple shield will help him be able to latch on.. Especially since we have been bottle feeding for the past few weeks. I couldn't have done it today. If I am feeling slightly better I might try tomorrow. It is worth a shot. I have been pumping leaning over completely.

& yes, I have tried almost EVERYTHING. I stand in the shower with the hot water running until we run out of hot water. I have been microwaving a bowl of water and soaking a wash cloth and holding it on it. I have been icing it after pumping.. and even during. I know it slows the milk from coming out.. but I just can't do it.

He wanted me to go to the ER so they could do a sonogram on it.. and see if it was an abscess. I guess he figured I would be able to see a surgeon there.

My niece kept saying "AA boob fallin off" because I told my brother I thought it was going to fall off. lol!

I was told everything was "back to normal" when I went to the doctor Monday (down there) So, I might try a bath tomorrow too. Douglas is home and can watch the baby.

Thanks for commenting and giving me all that advice. <3

I wouldn't really trust Joe Shmoe in the ER to cut my boob open. LOL. I don't care if they're a doctor..My boobies feed my baby so I want someone who specializes in boobs and learned about them specifically in medical school, lol!

As far as compresses, warm compress for about 15 minutes before and during pumping. I made a rice sock..just take a sock, fill it up with rice (not minute rice!!) and tie off the end. Then microwave it. It stays warm for a long time, although it does smell weird. Cold compress afterward!! Take Tylenol and Advil for pain and to reduce swelling.

You need to have more faith in yourself, mama! "I just can't do it" YES YOU CAN!! I know because I've been there, done that and I'm much less awesome than you are. ;)

It really sucks trying to look up things dealing with breast abscesses because they're so uncommon that there really isn't much on the internet about it. If I had to do it over again, I would have skipped the needle aspiration and gone for lancing it and getting it over with. It's like immediate relief. At least you have a medical guy in the house if it needs to be packed, lol. Packing only hurts the first couple of times but then it's easy.

If it's still bad tomorrow, PLEASE go to the doctor!! I know it's scary but if it's not getting any better you'll be doing yourself a favor. Mine went untreated for so long and it was so huge and painful. I waited so long because I was scared but after it was over with, I was so relieved and wished I would have done something sooner. And if they give you pain meds, TAKE THEM! lol. They are totally safe to use while nursing (or pumping?) Just watch for sedation! :)

lol. I wouldn't have let anyone cut me open. I would have went to GBMC where Doug works. He knows a lot of the surgeons and people there.

I actually feel a ton better since I was able to get some milk out. I might have been engorged from not being able to get the milk out earlier. I had the suction down really low because it hurt SO bad. but, turning the suction up and sucking it up seems to have helped.

Ive been taking ibephrophen to help. I took a leftover percocet (from delivery) earlier.. but it didn't help one bit!

Oh, and if you try to put him on there tomorrow, pump a little first because it helps to draw your nipple out and will make the breast softer for him to latch on to.

I've also seen people on LJ talk about having their husbands/SO try to get the clog out..a little too weird for me though, lol.

I have to go sit in the bathtub now because, if you haven't read my entry, lol..I'm having a similar problem. ON MY BUTT WTF. I wish I could go to the GYN for this one, lol, because at least they're used to seeing that area on a regular basis!

Angela, 10 years ago in the Baltimore chat did you ever think you'd be telling me about your nipples? LOL.

It doesn't even come out when you pump?!

Hope it continues feeling better and you get some permanent relief soon! I'm sorry that it sucks so bad. :(
