Title: The Price You Pay
Cast: Juliet/Kate (ha), and half of Otherville.
Summary: This is a fic based on the idea that while Kate was captured by the Others she was kept in Juliet's house. So the assumption is that Ben never had cancer, therefore Jack wasn't nearly as important as he was in canon, and Jack and Sawyer managed to escape. Don't ask

soooooo i re-read this (because im just THAT geeked out on these two) and couldnt help but make mental lists as i went. so here's the breakdown.

'I think Juliet's darker nature (and her multitude of defense mechanisms) is one of the things that makes her such an interesting character'

agreed..loves it how you cant ever be sure if she's using one of these defense mechanisms or if she's breaking down some emotional barriers - and you play with this really well in this piece. One of my fav lines was ..

'People can become so eager to surrender their own dignity when they think you'll be moved or impressed by the gesture. Kate must still think of Juliet as someone capable of strong emotion.'

How disappointed she'll be in the end.'

and much as I loooove miss burke, im a kate fangirl at heart and you just write her too well..especially through Juliet's eyes. Like..
'Austen thinks she's much quieter than she really is. Thinks she's clever, too. She must think a lot of things.' - i loved that because its exactly how juliet would see Kate..totally on herself. which really, kate is most of the time. :)
and ... 'Judging from her current position sprawled in the midst of the mess on the floor, the answer to how does Kate make such a mess would be with great enthusiasm.' - i like when juliet considers the questions of Kate, you touch on this quite a bit and its nice to see that side of kate - that she more resembles the emotional state of a 16year old alot of the time.

and speaking of a 16 yr old Yup Alex added a little bit of awsomeness to this too :) great the way she looked up to kate and I wonder if this would have actually happened in cannon if they had had the time to write more scenes between them.

I'm glad you enjoyed the fic so much and I hope to finish the sequel pretty soon. (That one is actually longer with more plot, so that's slowing things down.)
