Women's Snowboard "Superpipe"
This is a bit of a live blog, but mostly it's just rambling.
I don't know how Elena has such terrible luck. She wiped out at practice and fucked up her elbow slightly. So of course there's footage of her crying, because that's how this shit works.
I haven't watched the Snowboard X stuff yet but already know Jacobellis won. She's apparently tweeting about how she's going out for a celebratory meal.
Haven't gotten to see Farrington until now. She's pretty solid, I dunno. I want to see run 2 before commenting. (I will mention her giggly running right over to Elena and hugging her, though.)
TORAH. TORAH TORAH TORAH in the BOOTH. Her haaaaair. It's luxurious. And she has TOTALLY TAKEN OVER COMMENTARY which is GOOD because she's not a total tool.
OH SHIT. Gretchen fell. :( And… is really slow to get up. Torah: "She's moving." I love how that's THE BRIGHT SIDE in snowboarding. They're all freaking out, and it was a really hard hit, but Sal just compared it to the hit she took two years ago and this wasn't anywhere near as bad. (Oh shit, though, her HEAD hit HARD.) That one was like she snapped like a fucking twig.
Kelly doesn't appear to be singing to herself, which almost worried me, but she put a pretty good run down. And she immediately goes to check on Gretchen, which is great.
Ooh, shit. Farrington is pretty technical but sits her landing.
Shit, her board is hot.
Gretchen sits it AGAIN. Shiiiiiiiit.
Oh and THERE'S Kelly singing. ALL IS NORMAL WITH THE WORLD YET AGAIN. She goes for the 1080, and almost hits it.

Farrington is maybe kind of adorable. (Ahahaha, listening to SHAKIRA. Hee.) I like her style. Shit. She was a bit rough at the end but she seriously is pretty technical. I want her and Torah to practice together and see what comes out of it. And... in second!

AND A GRETCHEN VIDEO. With that tacky fucking jacket. How come nobody ever looks as smooth as Torah did in that pink? Not anybody ever.

Kelly got her 1080, and then Gretchen, Farrington, and Elena RUSH her at the bottom of the pipe. It's pretty great, actually. Gretchen's all, "COME ON, COME ON," and they almost run over a camera guy and do not seem to notice or care. Greatness.
I love the X Games a million times more than the Olympics because the ladies love to hang out at the bottom of the pipe and then jump all over each other. But this was one of the best reactions ever, honestly. Torah cuddling all up on Elena the year Torah got her first gold was great, but this was PERFECTION.
Podium: Kelly in first, Farrington in second, and Elena in third. Gretchen fell on all three runs but then Kelly pulled out a 1080 -- in the middle of her run, no less, switching it up -- and Gretchen was all smiles after that.
