Catching Up

Dec 07, 2009 08:10

Life has been very hectic since my last post and I apologize for being MIA, yet again.

Mostly, my job at Deloitte encompasses my life. I get about an hour in the morning to catch up on email and then 2 hours in the evening to decompress, have dinner and read a little before I zonk out. But I am loving my job and all the new friends. It's more challenging than I anticipated and I love that. This is truly a great company to work for.

View from my window... see Stone Mountain? I work in the Ghostbusters Building, as my friends call it, LOL the one with 2 towers on top.

In awesome news, I finally saved enough to get my car out of the shop on Thanksgiving weekend. After driving Melissa's mom's Mercury Sable Tank since the end of May, (which I am completely grateful for!!), I sorely missed my Baby Beetle. The new (used)engine's a tad louder, but I don't care. I am ecstatic to have my car back!!!!!!

On Nov 19th, *gasp* I turned 40! My former boss, Marci, threw me a dinner party, which was so fabulous!!! And Megu took me out to an Imogen Heap concert and sushi dinner. I really need to get around to writing out some thank you notes. I am so behind!

My 2 birthday cakes!

On the FurKid front, mourning Molly-Bear was really hard, but we were soon realizing that our Emma (Irish Setter/Choco Lab mix) doesn't have much time left. She's 14 and has had a very slow growing cancer for a long while (2 years?)... and come to the conclusion that Sasha (the Cocker mix) will be very depressed when she passes. They've been best friends for a long time now. We have no idea how much longer we'll have with her, but I doubt it will be another year.

We were thinking to start looking for a new puppy at the top of the year... but the universe chose otherwise. Melissa found out about a Chocolate Lab puppy through a coworker. We went to check her out 2 weeks ago and suffice to say, we came home with her. I know for Melissa, it is helping fill the hole that Molly-Bear and Roxy left. (Roxy left us in April '08)

Her name is Abby (aka Abigail Adams McGuire). Her birthday is Sept 23, 2009, so she's about 10 weeks old now. She weighed in on Friday at the vet at 17lbs 12oz!! She's gonna be HUGE!

These pics are from the first night we got her. She is great at terrorizing all the other FurKids and pooping and peeing, eating and sleeping. And BITING! GAH! I am covered in scratches and bitey marks! These pics are deceptive~

And with that, I leave you with an image I took at work. This is the tree in the lobby... so pretty!

And the Obama version I did on my new iPhone (which I am completely obsessed with!!)

PS... I am on FaceBook a ton, so if you want to add me, I am here-->
