eBay treats on the way

I didn't know my job was going to get signoff so quickly & signed up immediately (ie transfer from the temp agency to payroll, with the payroll start date being the day before I signed the letter).

So I'd already spent money on eBay that I wouldn't have spent if I'd known.  Not that I'm wildly upset over it I have to admit.

Last night I went to the post office & collected a 1950s vintage sewing machine (Phoenix brand) complete with manual, case, extension table and accessories.  Ooooh vintage knee control sewing machine, I <3 you. It's probably a smart move to get it serviced as it didn't come from someone who renovates/sells sewing machines.  I'm kicking myself for missing another knee control Bernina but then again not really.  My store room is already heading towards becoming fit for an episode of Hoarders. Weeeeeell, maybe it almost is already. Not the hoarders with litter piled up high, and no containers in sight, but with the stacked containers of Too Much Stuff.

I can't wait for the council collection in 2 months time for a couple of larger annoying items.

back on topic.  There was also a vintage silk/cotton sari, that I'm thinking of using for a regency dress.  Winter longer sleeved perhaps.  And my mother of pearl sailing ship brooch.

Plus not from ebay but still a treasure:  "Seventeenth Century Womens Dress Patterns Book 1". Ohhhhh thank you V&A museum, I love it even though I'm not going to make anything from it soon.  The designs, the embroidery, the colours of the original garments are so worth drooling over.  My rating: Wear a bib when you first look at it.

I'm still waiting for a couple of very low priced items, vintage fabric, a bra, and umm something I can't remember.'

Oh yes, I do remember. A copy of  Blanche Payne's History of Costume .... I remember cfilson  mentioning it has scale patterns at the back.  Soon I'll have it on the bookshelf, actually not on the bookshelf. On the stack of books that won't fit in my bookcases.

book wishlist, library, sewing machines, ebay, sewing detritus as archeology
