I've come to realise in the past month what an insidiously lazy habit my 'puter became while I had glandular fever earlier this year. Months of that was followed by tennis elbow so i couldn't do much of anything, which got followed by 10 weeks of bugs after I started my new long term temp job. One of the reasons I took so long to get my own 'puter was not only space to keep it (hence getting Little Red netbook), but cos I knew how easy it would be to become less productive.
So now I'm going to have internet free nights, or at least internet free until a reasonable task list is achieved. I'm also trying to quit Bubbletown - even though I've now made it through Level 8. I could spend that time drafting up an 1790s open robe from Janet Arnold (I've bid on red fabric, so hoping ebay is still my b!tch).
Last night my list was to put away 2 weekends clean laundry (to find underwear), and do the back pattern piece alterations so I can start new work shirts. Well I didn't do that list but I still achieved, so I gave myself some time to read my f-list & fave sites.
While I did a load of washing (the insanity = doing more while 2 weeks worth is piled up in my only armchair). I transferred a 2nd tub of patterns into ziplock baggies, cos I thought that I'm having to look through this tub for the unaltered pattern, so I might as well just bag them up. Yes it'll take longer but I'll have that accomplished feeling to polish afterwards. I didn't quite get the whole tub done, as I ran out of bags for the large vogues, with around 10 left in the tub. So I have an empty 50litre tub to help me re-sort my fabric storage.
Did a second load of washing while I cooked & ate my dinner & did the dishes. (tick of smugness)
Then I put away 90% of the mountain of clean laundry. It's been humid although not hot, so I want to air out the T's & knits I washed on Sunday cos they didn't feel completely dry. I'll hang them off the shower rail tonight & then can put them away.
After that an1 hours ironing - shirts, dress, skirt, teatowels (lurv ironed linen teatowels) and hankies.
Plus one of the random bags-o-stuff from the Grotto got looked through & most of it tossed. There were a couple of first aid items that I'll put in my first aid kit and that's one small thing cleared out. More to go, but incremental wins is much less stressful than trying & failing to do it all at once.
Completely unrelated, I got a parcel notice on Monday & I've no idea what it is. It can't be the book so what could it be? Mystery parcels are fun. I'll wait til tomorrow or Friday before I collect it, as the book might arrive by then too. I've got a couple of Empire magazines to post to a friend, so I'll round them up ready to send. Hmm I've only 2 months til my bedside table has to be emptied of un-read magazines & papery detritus. Most of it is gone, but I need to remember to do half of what's left this month so it's not a last minute 31st December frenzy.
Tonight I need to hang up the Ts/knits, take out the recycling, bag up the magazines to post and work on the pattern piece. Oh and first I should take in my other denim skirt so that it I can wear it, and it won't be cluttering up the place in my pile of sewing things to finish.
