Sunday was a warm & humid day, so at the med fair in Parramatta I was well past the perspiration phase, and onto the horse phase. In case you haven't heard the saying "Horses sweat, Men perspire and Ladies gently glow".
This is still officially spring, so a summer or autumn fair would be unbearable in it. Plus the curtain fabric I used from my stash brushes up to fluffy very quickly, and will probably pill on the second wear. If not in the wash.
So I'm going to make a third viking apron dress, in linen :cheers wildly: Now I'll possibly have to visit Burwood or Cabramatta to get some linen I like in a colour that will go with my green under dress. I'm thinking navy or blue, cos I like that with green. Actually I do have some other greenish linen that would do, plus it's in my stash. However I'll check the combo of colours & may just find some blue linen anyway.
I found the 2nd one much easier to sew, and I even hand sewed the straps while I watched TV. The irony is that it was Terminator 2 on TV, while I *handsewed* viking.
I'm also becoming more obsessed with german 1500s, heavily influenced by the clothing of to be sure.
I am mad for the crazy head-dress on
this lady (by Lucas Cranach the Elder, Wife of law professor Ruess) Crazy cos how does one make it, and keep it on your head. It would cunningly and extravagantly disguise my short 21st century hair.
