I think that you did a wonderful job. It looks great from where I'm sitting (the whole co-ord. looks really good). Also, I know your not asking, but I don't have a zipper foot either. I just use my usual footer for sewing in the zippers. When I was making my Rose Butterfly skirt I went on a hunt for the proper footer only to give up and I found a quick tutorial online instead just to see if its possible. It just takes some practice.
