I'm building a flying pirate ship.

Back on my feet and ready to make arts again. I have some samples for another future game project.

The boyfriend has recruited me to make models of some of the ships from my Valistil universe, adapted to fit in with a game that he and another friend have been making. The first obstacle is that their game is set IN SPACE. Another problem: the ships are supposed to run on semi-realistic physics. Haha. Did I mention that the Valistil ships are sailing vessels? x)

Anyways. Here's my attempt at making sea-vessels spaceworthy.

The sails run on solar power and serve as engines. This was Nic's idea, and it makes a whole lot of sense, provided the ships have major limitations. For example: they're fastest when they're moving away from a nearby sun, because the light literally pushes the ship forward.
The lower sails provide stability, so that the ship is powered symmetrically instead of from just one side. (...They should probably be a bit bigger.)
The sails also retract into the ship when not in use in a very complex fashion. This way, they do not get damaged during warfare.

Before you say it, I deliberately did not look at or even think about Treasure Planet while I was designing this. Boats in space is not very original at all, but I really wanted to distance myself from that movie in particular because I like the designs a lot. As it turns out, my designs are far more practical, and make some degree of theoretical sense.
Take that, Treasure Planet artists. That'll teach you not to have a physicist boyfriend. :P
