*checks off one more book*

Last night we had a crazy windstorm with dark clouds and I was tempted to stand outside in the yard shouting, "Auntie Em! Uncle Henry!" but instead I curled up on the sofa and finished a book. That was much better than getting conked on the head, but probably not as good as getting some really pretty sparkly red shoes.

55. Hot Seat by Eli Easton & Tara Lain

Mike is a closeted rookie firefighter with a loud and boisterous Italian family. Shane is the fabulously out man he meets while evacuating residents from a fire. Mike struggles with conflicting feelings, and Shane tries to be patient as he slowly exposes him to the gay community. Mike’s family is one giant cliche but I didn’t care because I loved Lucille and Tessa and Carlotta and Nonna, even while I wanted most of the males of the bunch to be kicked in the teeth. The chapters pivot between Mike and Shane’s points of view, so there are lots of wonderful opportunities to get into their heads. It’s a quick and easy read, but I just really enjoyed all the relationships with family and friends, and watching Mike and Shane find their way to be together.
