Challenge #606 at
tv_universe is called "Wait... who's that?" -- the re-casting of characters on our favourite shows. Here's mine.
01. Game of Thrones
The original role of Daario, a mercenary and love interest for Daenarys, was played by actor Ed Skrein. He apparently had to leave the part after Season Three because he was cast in a movie, so the show replaced him with Michiel Huisman for Season Four. (I think Ed was a much better choice, if only for his look. Daenarys is a young girl, and who wouldn't be swept away by Mr. Skrein?)
02. Once Upon A Time
Robin Hood was originally a standalone character for one episode in Season Two, played by Tom Ellis. When they decided to bring the character back as a regular player for Season Three, the role was recast with the infinitely superior Sean Maguire. Regina doesn't stand a chance.
03. True Blood
Luke Grimes played the original role of James in True Blood's 6th Season, appearing as Jessica's vampire love interest. But when Grimes found out that the character would be become involved in a same-sex relationship with Lafayette in Season Seven, he backed out of the role and it was recast with actor Nathan Parsons. Grimes might be prettier, but Nathan Parsons is definitely the better person.
