Walking Dead Meme -- Question 20

20. Least favourite female character? Why?

Honestly, it could be practically any of them, except Andrea. (Gee, I wonder who wrstlgirl would pick? ;) ) But I have to go with Carol Peletier.

At the beginning of the series, I liked Carol. I got her. Not everybody can be the warrior, the hunter, the killer-of-the-big-bad-things. Some people do have to cook the food that the hunter brings back, and wash the clothes, and make a good life so that there's a reason to go on living in the first place. And I could sympathize with Carol as an abused woman, who maybe doesn't know or has forgotten how to speak up for herself and who's alone after Ed is killed. I get all of that.

But the more the series went on, the more she annoyed me. I mean, it's the apocalypse. The ZOMBIE apocalypse. No matter how underequipped you are, you HAVE to learn to defend yourself. But Carol seemingly refuses to pick up a gun. When Dale asks her to take the rifle on the roof of the RV (when Daryl and Andrea are out in the woods at night, looking for Carol's daughter), she kind of sniffs and says "I don't know how to use that." Guess what, Carol? LEARN. Coz IT'S THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE. You cannot rely on other people to defend you. It's the same thing in the finale, when Andrea jumps out of a safe truck to save Carol's ass and then gets left behind. Why? BECAUSE CAROL NEVER LEARNED HOW TO SHOOT A GUN, and is trying to defend herself from walker hordes with a stick.

*throws up hands*

This doesn't even get into how she doesn't ever go out looking for her own daughter. And again, yes, she's not skilled, but neither is Andrea. Neither is Jimmy, who isn't even part of their group and still goes out looking with the rest. If it was my daughter, I'd be out there beating the bush every goddamn day, begging people to go with me. And it doesn't even get into how ridiculously judgmental she got, telling Rick to "do something!" (I'm sorry, Carol, what is it that YOU are doing, again? Oh right. Nothing.) and questioning Rick's leadership, putting the bug in Daryl's ear that he/they should leave the group.

Yeah. She frustrates the hell out of me.

The trailer for S3 gives me hope that she's changed. But for now, she's my least favourite. *nods*

(I was going to cut Daryl out of this photo and just post Carol, but I just.couldn't.do.it. Wispy pseudo-sideburns for the win.)
