Day 28 - Your favorite QaF fanfic

NoooOOOOoooOOOOOoo!! How how how can I pick just ONE?

There were soooo many wonderful stories written, it really IS impossible to just pick one. But when I started to think about this question, I found it sorta odd that the first two stories that came to mind were AU's. Maybe it's because there IS such a such a huge amount of canon and post-canon stories that the really brilliant AUs just stand out. Maybe it's because both of these AUs were not only QaF fic but they also hit my thing for post-apocalyptic scenarios big-time. Maybe it's because they were just.that.good.

1. Colder in My Skin by seperis -- This is a vampire story -- a dark, creepy, violent vampire story that is not for the faint of heart. It is also a beautiful piece of world-building, a stark and haunting look at what would become of our so-in-character-it-hurts boys in this new world. It's told through Justin's POV, with the story bouncing back and forth between his memories and what is happening now, and if you're like me you'll wince and shiver and then you'll think that somehow, weirdly, wrongly... it still has a happy ending.

2. 16:1 by mclachlan -- Poetic and lyrical, this is an end of the world story that pulls no punches and doesn't give us any hope for a 'happy ending' -- it is just Brian and Justin, doing what needs to be done. It is the language and imagery here that makes this story resonate and linger long after you've read the final lines. - journal purged

And in the canon category...

1. How The Story Ends by negativeerin -- Everything by negativeerin is amazing, but this story holds a special place in my heart because it was actually written FOR me as a gift after one of my blogathons for charity. It's a post-season five story in which the boys are amazingly in character (no surprise there) and well... you've just gotta go read it. You'll be left with a warm snuggly feeling, and what better way to end off these recs, right?
