My life revolves around the Olympics

Aug 15, 2008 23:54

Working nights, I've only been able to see about 1 hour of live footage per night, but I've been literally planning my sleep schedule around the morning and evening repeat schedule on CBC. (I'm reading my flist, but only flashing out a few comments here and there.) I'm soooo happy this weekend because a) I have no commitments and b) I am able to ( Read more... )

I'm watching the Olympics too. I don't know why I like gymnastics, but I do! I like the diving & swimming for obvious reasons. Hee.

Yeah, I'm watching events that I never normally would. Like getting all excited about beach volleyball or womens marathon. I totally hear ya on the diving and swimming. ;)

sleep? what's that? I think I actually nodded off in a meeting today because I've been up so late watching.

Have to try and make an Olympic post tom. For now I'm headed to bed.

I work nights so I've been relying on the replays during the day -- luckily CBC is showing 18 hours of Olympic coverage a day so I'm still able to see almost everything I want to see. But nothing beats seeing it live. :)

I feel like I haven't slept in weeks. My body clock is still waking me up at my normal time even though I've been staying up until 2ish to watch the Olympics. I have a NY state exam tomorrow for my new job, and I still watched tonight when I should have been studying. I can't make myself step away. What if I miss history in the making?!

LOL I know exactly what you mean. I've been looking forward to this weekend for weeks just knowing that I would be able to stay up and see all the races and events live.

Hope you did well on your exam!

Michael Phelps is a machine but I like hearing that he actually has a family that supports him and seeing them in the stands and listening to his mother's interview made is much more emotional and real.

Last night we enjoyed watching the women's gymnastics while the gold & silver medalists watched along with Bela Karoli (sp). It made it much more human and personal.

I'm enjoying these Olympics much more than I have the past two. I'm not sure if it's the exotic location or if the quality of broadcasting has improved...or that Katie Couric is no longer there.

He seems so matter of fact about his accomplishments. He honestly seems like he just loves to swim and wants to do his best. There seems to be no ego involved.

I find I'm watching things I would never actually watch. I was really into the womens marathon.

I watch at least 90% of my Olympics on the Canadian channel CBC. CBC is airing 18 hours of coverage per day. I only switch over to NBC when I want to see the US medal presentations or if CBC is showing something I have no interest in at all.

I remember watching the last summer Olympics at the hospital! My mom was in hospital for a month and so I'd catch the events there in the waiting room while she was getting tests or sleeping. Just not quite the same as this year. :)
