I've had enough stress this month, thankyouverymuch

May 30, 2008 08:49

So I've been trying to get back on track with... everything, which seems to be much harder than it should be. I'm reading my flist but I just can't seem to muster the energy to actually respond to anything that anyone's posted about. So I told myself, "Okay, today (today being yesterday) I have the evening free, so I'm going to go online and ( Read more... )

I'm sorry, Alex. I am terrifed of loosing my family pics which are on my computer as well. Thank you for giving me the idea to upload them to photobucket. I don't have the hardware to burn a disc.

The only thing I can think of is...you didn't get any email that had a postcard attached did you? I've gotten warnings from everyone I know that the "Postcard virus" is legit.

I hope things will get better for you over the weekend. I admit I've been confused by some of your recent entries where you seem to be upset. I thought of emailing you, but didn't want to pry.

severina2001's mother died very recently - less than a month ago - after an upsetting illness. FanSee

What an ass I am! For some reason I thought I was replying to Alex's journal.
I could claim intense caffeine need, but I think dumbass says it better.

My condolences severina.

Please forgive me. *hides head in shame*

Caffeine deprivation sounds like all the explanation needed! Been there myself. FanSee

It sounds as if your mother board is dying, which is bad news. Hopefully it's just a virus. It happened to me in December. I had problems turning it on and it would shut off without me doing that.

But you would not lose everything if/when your mother board wears out. If you take it to any computer shop, they can remove the harddrive with all your material and then upload that into a new computer, so if the worst happens, at least you don't have to lose your material.

Thank you for the information. I feel a little better at least knowing that I'll be able to get to my stuff on the hard drive. I'm going to back all the other photos up to photobucket tomorrow, as well. Everybody seems to say it's the motherboard... Do you think that this one time occurrence mean that it's absolutely certain to be dying, or could it be simply a *one time* occurrence? To the best of your knowledge, I mean.

Very hard to say. How old is your computer? It happened to mine at the end of two years and I have a lap top so they usually die faster than a desk top. If it is one incident, it might just have skipped stuff, like a record player. But I'd be wary.

I bought a dell because they have to replace it if it dies, or fix it. And fix it, they did! My lap was returned a month later with a completely new everything.

I hope it's not serious.

Mine is just over a year old. The warranty just expired last month. I guess I'll have to cross my fingers and hope for the best.

Thanks for your help.

Awww, thanks. I've seriously had just about enough. I think you know where I'm coming from.

I have to tell you, your little David Cook obsession has made me smile over the last few weeks. I read your posts and just grin. Hopefully I'll be able to go back and snag some tunes later when I have the chance to breathe again.

(Also, I may possibly have had a David Cook dream a couple of nights ago. Heh.)

I had a dream that I was shopping for cowboy boots with him. My mind is a strange, scary place.

That truly DID provide instant cheering up! There is something very sexy about a man with a sense of humour. I think I have a wee crush.

That seems to be the answer I'm getting. Grrr. This computer is only a year old. I bought it in April 2007. The warranty just expired.

How long does it usually last when this starts happening? Any chance it could be just a one-time occurrence?
