Technology hates me. When will I learn this?

Sep 11, 2006 20:20

I bought an mp3 player. I read the manual. I asked questions of my friends who own mp3 players. I organized all my music. I gathered my courage and decided to put the songs from my computer onto the mp3 player.

I have been trying to do this for several hours.

It copied about 50 songs very quickly. Then it froze. I managed to get out of that, but then it won't recognize the device. I shut down. Restarted WMP. It begins copying songs, does about 3, then freezes. Rinse and repeat. Occasionally it tells me that "the operation has been aborted because of IO something or other". Every time it does this I must manually unplug the player and restart everything.

I seriously want to cry.

Also, I now have no sound on my computer whatsoever.

I think I *will* cry.

ETA: I did not cry. Instead I watched Vanished and cooed over Gale. Then I kept stopping/starting and got all the files onto Consuela The MP3 Player. Then I went into my computer Control Panel and went into the sound options and just hit "apply" and "okay" to all the options -- didn't change 'em any -- and voila, I have sound again.

I repeat: Technology hates me.
