I originally prepared this fanmix for a genderbent Sherlock/John fic which I wanted to write and which is still lying around in bits on my hard drive, but then I don't know if I'll ever get the time to finish writing it. Anyway, the fanmix is pretty much standalone, since to me it tells the whole story of girl!Sherlock and girl!John, up until the Empty House. Also note that the title of this fanmix (and my head!canon of girlSherlock and girl!John) has been inspired by
this drawing by
naive_wanderer which I consider to be the most successful representation of genderbent Sherlock and John to date.
The cover of the fanmix is a bit weird -- I'm not very good at those :(

01. Fleur de Saison - Émilie Simon
Sherlock's POV. This song is about the life of Sherlock before she meets Joan. I consider Émilie Simon's voice to be very close to what I have in mind for Sherlock's own: since Benedict's voice is baritone, very deep and masculine, girl!Sherlock should have a very feminine, soprano voice.
Fleur de saison is a song about stagnation and oblivion and the hope of spring and resurrection. It makes me think about Sherlock and her drug addiction.
Dès les premières lueurs
Oh je sombre
Il me paraît bien loin l'été
Je ne l'ai pas oublié
Mais j'ai perdu la raison
Et le temps peut bien s'arrêter
Peut bien me confisquer
Toute notion des saisons
(Translation: At first light, Oh I'm sinking down
Summer seems so far away, I haven't forgot, but I've lost my mind
And time may as well stop and take away from me any notion of seasons)

Joan's POV. The life of Joan as a soldier, since the lexical field of war is developed in the song. The song is quite energetic but also melancholy, which would, in my mind, fit Joan's character. (and yes, there is actually a lot of snow in Afghanistan in winter!)
Bury me in armor
When I'm dead and hit the ground
A love back home unfolds
If you love me
Won't you let me know?

Sherlock and Joan's POV. They've finally met! And they're in love. Everything is awesome and nothing hurts. It's an uplifting and joyous song that epitomizes the height of their relationship.
We're living in a den of thieves
Rummaging for answers in the pages
We're living in a den of thieves
And it's contagious

Sherlock's POV, post-Reichenbach. She makes her choice -- she has to leave, on her own. It's not an easy decision and it tears her apart. The song is addressed to Joan.
Oh mon amour, mon âme-soeur
Je compte les jours je compte les heures
Je voudrais te dessiner dans un désert
Le désert de mon coeur
[...]
Oh mon amour, je passe mon tour
J'ai déserté les alentours
Je te quitte, voilà c'est tout
(Translation: Oh my love, my soulmate
I'm counting the days I'm counting the hours
I'd like to draw you in a desert
The desert of my heart
[...]
Oh my love, I pass my turn
I've deserted the place
I'm leaving you, there, that is all)

Joan's POV, post-Reichenbach. Sherlock is supposedly dead but Joan will never give up on the hope of finding her and bringing her back, because she is awesome and badass like that. The lyrics are pretty much self-explanatory and fit so much it's eerie.
All my life, i worshipped her
Her golden voice, her beauty's beat
How she made us feel
How she made me real
And the ground beneath her feet
And the ground beneath her feet
And now I can't be sure of anything
Black is white, and cold is heat
For what I worshipped stole my love away
It was the ground beneath her feet
It was the ground beneath her feet
Go lightly down your darkened way
Go lightly underground
I'll be down there in another day
I won't rest until you're found
Let me love you, let me rescue you
Let me lead you to where two roads meet
O come back above
Where there's only love
(My oh my, my oh my)
Let me love you true, let me rescue you
Let me lead you to where to roads meet
