Aaaaand that's a wrap!

The Walkathon portion of this year's Blogathon/Walkathon extravaganza was a great success. Over 1100 people walked to raise over $250,000 for ACT. Aaaamazing! Everyone was in great spirits, the weather was a little chilly but still sunny, and the walk itself was easy peasy! Probably about 3K -- I think it should have been longer! As the walkers came in we all got cheered which was kind of neat.

Above: Jen just after registration. This is about 2 hours before the start of the walk, and already there were a lot of people milling about.

Above: Hanging around waiting for the warm-up.

Above: Warm Up! On the stage in the background you can see the warm-up leaders... they were dressed in funky '70's clothing and black afros (as the theme was a retro '70's "Funk N Walk") and they led the crowd in warm-up exercises that consisted of things like John Travolta's "Saturday Night Fever" dance and that thing where you roll your arms over each other. They were fun!

Above: 5-4-3-2-1 START!

Above: We rounded the first corner to be greeted by this band serenading us with... the theme to Sesame Street. Too adorable.

Above: I just turned around and took this pic walking backwards. I was trying to give y'all a sense of how many people were behind us, but that didn't exactly work out. And there were no steps to stand on.

Above: Just before I took this photo, these guys were going nuts cheering for us.

Above: Nearing the end of the walk. I think it's cool that you can see half of me in each side of Jen's glasses.

Above: Success.

Thank you once again to everyone who contributed and made Blogathon and Walkathon such a success.

See you next year!
