Home sweet home. ♥
Well, it was definitely a day. I'll give it that much. :-/
I woke up around 8am and finished packing up the handful of things that I couldn't get packed the night before. Still no sign of my missing earrings, unfortunately, so I'm getting to the point where I think that I'm going to have to give up on finding them. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that someone will find them in their stuff when they unpack, though, so we'll see.
Anyway, I finished packing without any major issues, and then I headed downstairs to catch the shuttle. (
laura47 was dead to the world, so I didn't get to give proper goodbyes on that front.) There were a handful of people downstairs who I got to hug, and then it was off to the airport on the 9:15am shuttle.
I arrived at O'Hare around 9:30am, and to my utter shock there was absolutely no line whatsoever at security. Do you know when the last time that happened was? No? Me either, because the answer is "never."
But, yes, I was through security in something like five minutes, so I had plenty of time to spare. So I made my way to Macaroni Grill for my traditional "let's kill time by having one last meal in a restaurant" brunch. To my utter delight, there was a PokéStop just outside it, so I put out a lure and a lucky egg while I enjoyed my food. Needless to say, I took my time.
After that, I still had 45 minutes before my flight was supposed to start boarding, so I wandered around to hit up a few more PokéStops and gyms. Also, I needed to catch two more Drowzees in order to evolve one into a Hypno, which I really wanted to do since you never see them in the DC area. (I managed it. :-P)
... and around then was when I got the message that my flight had been delayed by at least an hour. Which you always want to hear.
So, yes, I headed back to my gate and settled down in a chair, in the hope that if the flight ended up leaving earlier than expected (i.e., closer to the scheduled time), I wouldn't have to worry about it.
(It was delayed again instead.)
We eventually took off, not quite two hours after the scheduled time. It put us into DC right as rush hour was really getting going. So I said "fuck it" and took Uber home instead of trying to deal with public transit, especially when I saw the black sky waiting for me outside. (It started pouring about 3/4 of the way home.)
Long story short: I got home. The cats made their displeasure known in regards to me abandoning them for the weekend. I unpacked. I washed clothes. I ordered food. I set up volunteer hours for this weekend. I scheduled an appointment to get my car looked at. I poked at the internet and tried to get caught up on things. I nominated fandoms/relationships for

femslashex. I looked over the Yuletide schedule. I talked to the soon-to-be-bride about wedding-related things, specifically ones that related to make-up and my lack of, well, any.
Then I hurriedly typed up a half-assed ending to the post I'd started at the airport hours earlier, rushing through it because it's late and I'm tired. Followed a few minutes later, hopefully, by going to bed. :-P
And that was VividCon 2016.
